I think he's just referring to the first chapters that have been translated and are available online. Or maybe he's read some summaries.

I have the three books in Japanese.
Can't read it, but one can follow the pictures pretty well.

I usually prefer manga to anime - the storyline typically flows better and you can have 'more' in a manga than an anime (as it, it can be rougher, darker, etc).

Yes, one of the biggest reason why I don't watch Bleach, Naruto or One Piece - they're already long enough as is, so to add MORE that doesn't makes sense/tie in is pointless

Yeah, Outlaw Star's Manga didn't seem to have that much filler, but at the same time, like Asher said, it sort of leaves you at an end that isn't satisfying. Like it's a ,"Tune In next time for the next Manga" or something like that.

It's amazing how they messed up on the whole marketing for this Manga/Anime in some key parts. They never officially distributed the last chapters to the whole public so the Manga leaves you at a stand-still unless you can find them and the manga was never released in English, which to me, is baffling. Not because I am selfious and can only speak/read/write English, but because the USA & UK are BIG marketplaces. Imagine if they actually DID offically translate the manga, released it to the UK/USA. I bet you that the fanbase would have grown a lot more than we think and maybe the continuation of the Manga/Anime would have occurred. I'm not saying that the UK/USA sales would be the "end all, beat all" location for this show and I am not even saying that it would have beaten the fan base of Cowboy Bebop. But I think that the opening of availability of the series would have spread more.

Anywho, getting off of topic here. All in all, manga needs to come back and finish the job. Takehiko Ito should have continued to write/draw the Manga while the Anime was being produced. It was like they contacted him while he was midway with the Manga and when they gave him the green light for the Anime, he dropped it and left it hanging there.
