View Full Version : Banning Procedures

This hopefully will not be an issue for you, but I thought it would be a good idea to explain the warning system and bans. You should read the general rules topic though if you haven't already. Remember, this information is subject to change if the staff finds anything not covered also inappropriate.

Each member only has to be warned a few times until they are banned, but that usually takes effort. Once your warning meter hits 100%, I will slam down my gavel, thus banning you, and send you to the prisoner's planet of Hecatonchires. This is a forum that can only be viewed by banned members, and is the only forum you will be seeing if you are banned. The Warden and his Sentry Bots will heavily moderate your activities there, and you may engage in politically correct activities and be nice if you wish to reduce your potentially-long sentence. :)

Below are the warning points you will receive upon violating the forum rules. Each point counts for 10%, and unless noted, each warning will last the number of points in months.

[1 Point] Inane/Pointless Post (Less Destructive than the 30% Spamming Warning)
[1 Point] Self-Promotion
[1 Point] Spoiler
[1 Point] Swear Word Not Already Censored
[1 Point] Thread Bumping
[1 Point] Thread Derail (Unintentional)
[2 Points] Swear Block Evasion
[2 Points] Swear Word in Image(s)
[3 Points] Personal Attack
[3 Points] Thread Derail (Intentional)
[3 Points] Relevant Link But Not Safe For Work Content
[3 Points] Meaninglessly Spamming w/ Images or Text
[3 Points] Pornographic Image - Very Softcore
[4 Points] Admin/Mod Attack
[4 Points] Racist Slur
[4 Points] Religious Attack
[5 Points] Not Safe For Work/Offensive Image or URL
[6 Points] Pornographic Image
[10 Points] Second Account, No Expiry (Perm Ban)
[10 Points] Third Repeat Offence of Any Above Warnings (Expires After Five Months)

This thread wasn't created to worry you, but unfortunately the internet has its fair share of trolls. This system has been designed to stop them, and to keep the forum orderly. There are younger members around and you need to respect that. Also, some of these warnings are subjective, and the points above are the minimum punishment. For posting hardcore pornography, you will receive a permanent ban. The same goes for highly offensive non-pornographic images. To show that you can't get away with the same low-point offence multiple times, a third repeat offence will get you a five-month ban, with one exception, which is the spoiler tag. Sometimes it's easy to accidentally post a spoiler, so such offences will be looked at on a case-by-case basis.

I personally look forward to meeting any misbehaving members in Hecatonchires!

Did I ever tell you that my favorite episode of OLS is Gravity Jailbreak?

How can i check my warning meter?

This thread is from over nine years ago when the forum ran different software, so since switching I haven't implemented such a system. See how it mentions a swear block? That was abolished several years ago since practically all fans of the show have grown up by now! I should probably update this. =/

To be honest I never really had to use the system since members have nearly always been friendly and civil.

So these rules are more like rough guidelines to lean on, for now?

Yeah, I guess so. When I find the time I'll update a bunch of threads, including this one.

Oops, I didn't mean to drag this archaic post up from the depths and scare anyone.

Don't worry Zem, I'm sure we're all used to your shenanigans by now. ;)
