Natural Disasters in Japan

If you've been keeping up with the news lately, things aren't so great in Japan. Earthquakes that have caused major damage and there's been a tsunami which has taken many lives. Not just that, but a nuclear meltdown with a lot of people suffering from radiation poisoning, and the nuclear reactor situation may escalate. On top of that, I've recently heard that there's significant probability of a volcano waking up. When you add all these together, this is no doubt amongst the worst disasters in mankind. Japan's economy has predictably been hit hard which will make things very difficult during the aftermath.

I've been watching some of the videos on YouTube. As you may expect, there are a lot of twisted assholes making jokes about those who have died. But I guess that's the Internet Dickwad Theory for you...

I think it takes a little more than a normal person to joke about such matters. And then there are scammers trying to cash in on the disaster. I wonder why I'm not a total misanthrope already! Oh, and there's also the 2012 sheep...

What are your thoughts regarding the disaster?

Jim: "How do you know?"
Gene: "I don't!"
Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

RE: Natural Disasters in Japan

It gives you a lot to think about- how very limited your time is here on Earth, and making the best of it before you go on as well. My heart's going out to them and hope they get back on their feet very soon.

RE: Natural Disasters in Japan

That one horrendous earthquake has resulted in a tsunami, a nuclear reaction explosion, a nuclear reaction cooling failure which is what happened to the first, and now possibly an erruption.

Not including all the fires.

I think anyone who takes the piss out of this, or says that they deserved it or needed it should go die in a ditch. Seriously, it's sick an wrong. No-one said this shit about the Boxing Day tsunami, or any other natural disaster, so why do it about Japan!
You're asking for historical accuracy in a series where men weilding three swords in each hand, pirates surfing across land on giant anchors, horses with motocycle parts attached and feudal-era Power Rangers are the norm?

I heard that the earthquake was powerful enough to move the main island eight feet farther west.
That's freakin' scary.

RE: Natural Disasters in Japan

I think its sad. I wish I could do something (besides donating money). I mean I'm not a tight-wad with money or anything, but besides donating there's gotta be something else people can do for them.

You could probably volunteer in one way or another but that's unrealistic given our own responsibilities, unfortunately! All you can do is hope for the best, and donate if you haven't already. As for the video, it's been taken down. What was it?

RE: Natural Disasters in Japan

This christian girl (if you want to call her that) was saying that God is so good since she prayed and god answered her by setting off the Earthquake on Japan, simply because they were atheists. Now, Religion is not my cup of Tea, but it's people like this who give their religion a bad name...
