Cronavirus causing a shift in the attitude of a generation?

I know that we already have a couple coronavirus related threads but tough shit, you're gonna get another one. It's something that I've been pondering about that I wanted to get some perspectives on.

With all the commotion going on about this virus, I think we can all agree that this is no small thing. The effect that it has on people, the panic and fear in the air, what effect it's going to have on our economy and our way in life in general. I mean, this is huge. There hasn't been a disease that kicked humanity and society in the balls this hard since the spanish flu. For some reason, when thinking about this, it got me thinking of another major event that had a huge effect on people; 09/11

After the 09/11 attacks, there was a change in the mood at the time. At first, it started with a sense of optimism and unity for awhile but then, when George W. Bush was elected as president and the war on terror came into effect, it caused a lot of distrust in the government and authority at large, especially when you factor in the patriot act that was going down at the time. I'm thinking of the shit that's gone on for the past few years may it be the shit flinging from both sides of the political isle after the 2016 elections and the like and its got me wondering...

Do you think the cronavirus is going to be the 2020's answer to 09/11 in the sense that it's going sort of define this generation and cause a new mood to take hold of the world? I would like to think that, with all the shortage on goods and the like, it would make people realize that the things they get mad or over passionate about isn't that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things and cause them to be better to their fellow man and show each other common decency. Of course, this is a very admittedly optimistic view but who knows what the future holds because of this virus. What do you fellas think?

I feel like this is going to teach people, well reteach them, that working as a community together is important. A lot of the younger folks that aren't thinking of having kids or saying they aren't going to have kids are getting a taste of how a community can come together or fall apart. In some areas, people are being very greedy to the point where they are screwing other people, adults, and children, even babies out of basic needs. Then you see other people going out of their way to help strangers and to ensure everyone gets what they need.

Stuff like this shows people's real colors. You notice how quiet most celebs are being right now? Well, that is because a lot of people are out of work and tight on money, they don't want to be told by millionaires what to do. Maybe this will wake people up on that front. Stop idolizing selfish people and respect those out there doing something about the problem from truck drivers working overtime to get food to store to doctors and nurses in the hospital sleeping as little as 2 hours a night.

My sister is visiting this weekend and the real-ness of this situation has definitely matured her somewhat (college Freshman).
