    Do you love your country?

Personally, despite my love and appreciation for Classical European and Eastern cultures, I am proud to call myself an American. I don't consider it so much a love of my country as I do a love of my country's values: that is to say, the ideals of freedom of speech, personal liberty, and republicanism upon which the United States were founded. I call myself a liberal and a patriot because I believe in these things, and value them almost more than life itself. The ideas that I may live my life how I desire, and not be bound to one path or another by some omniscient Fate, and speak how I desire without fear of censure or persecution are beautiful ones, and I am eternally happy to live in a country that was built upon this idea.

What are your thoughts? Are you proud to be a citizen of your own country, or do you prefer to believe in ideals over nations? As always, please be civil when stating your opinion.

Definitely, my country is amazing, and even though countries such as the USA seem amazing to live in, I think that I'd rather stay in Sweden because I'm really familiar with it. And honestly, it's just amazing. However, I seem rather interested in living in Alaska, but only if I had multiple lifetimes, haha. It seems rather chill up there and calm, and camp fires et cetera just seems amazing to be around.

If we're going to talk about politics, I'm rather ashamed of my country. It's a rather socialistic country, and there's even a party who are considered racists, mainly because of their thought of wanting to ban helping refugees.

I am proud of my country and culture as a French.
However these "country ideals" things make no sense to me, because it stand no chance against the context.
Even though i'm proud to be French i disagree with my country's regime. I don't believe in lies such as "democracy" or "republic".
And it's BECAUSE i love my country i wish the best for it. I am personally close to bonapartism, as i think a strong and enlightened government is better.
Also i am for freedom of speech, but against freedom of the press, do you see what i mean ?

Honestly... I don't really care. I've never been patriotic, and all I can think of when I'm on a flight home is how it's going to piss it down the next day. Having said that, despite its faults I do respect the British government in some ways. The NHS is a great service. Sometimes they're a bit slow, but nobody's refused treatment because they have an empty wallet.

I don't like how things are being handled lately. For example, Brexit. Exiting the EU was the winning vote, but now they're probably going to have a new vote. This left-wing bias and general pandering has resulted in a lot of people losing faith in our government. While I'm just "right-leaning" I think things have got a bit ridiculous.

Britain does a lot of things right, but I'll have no problem moving in the future.

    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I'm embarrassed of the U.S. in countless ways lately, but it's that kind of embarrassment you have when a family member is making an ass of themselves...you're embarrassed for them, but mostly by them, because you're like "shit, everybody's gonna' know I'm related to THAT guy, fml." I guess the fact that I have feelings at all about it means I care, because if I were completely apathetic, I wouldn't give a damn.

I'm proud of our core ideals, as a society, but I'm not going to blindly wave a flag and fall in line when I see shit going down that's fucked. To keep the family analogy going, think of that or being a true friend to someone: if you see someone destroying themselves, or being an ass, do you just go along with it? Either for kicks or because you don't want to hurt their feelings or your friendship? Then you're an enabler. But if you're a TRUE friend, you say 'hey so-n-so, I saw you doin' such-n-such, and as your friend, I thought I'd tell you that's fucked, that's not who you are.' Therefore, if you're a "true patriot" (a turn of phrase I don't use myself), you stand up for certain things even when your party, or your representative, or your president, et al. is hell-bent on going another direction.
No one's gonna' give you a map. You've gotta' walk your own path.

I know how you feel, gentlemen. I hold a great deal of respect for Europe, but I hate to see how it's falling apart under the EU right now.

I am happy to live in my country, I cannot have a lot of pride for it.

There is always something to improve upon in the world. Wrongs to be Righted, corrections to be made. But it takes time, and it takes Unity, which is what we are lacking thanks to a number of sinister forces.

Under Trump, I hope conditions improve, but the Swamp is deep.

I love the foundational principles that my country sits upon, but there is a lot of work to be done outside of that.

Yeah, nationalism, it's a whole kettle of wax.

Personally I'm tired of seeing "love of country" used to ignore the problems of a nation, my own included.
So to keep it brief, do I love my country? Not really, no.
Do I respect it and strive to better it, sure.

I've just given up taking personal stock and self-worth in place of my birth.
    People over places, ya know?

For the most part yeah I am happy to live here in Australia, but there are certain aspects of it that I'm not proud of. Like our government happily pandering to the rich while screwing over the working class. Also our internet is a joke even when compared to most third world countries, thanks to the aforementioned government. And there's the fact that marriage equality is taking much longer to be introduced than it really needs to. Not to mention we constantly play second fiddle to America when it comes to the video game market, and that's putting it generously.
