How much do you rely on technology and the internet in your day to day life?

It has been said that our dependency on technology in this day and age could make or break us if things started going wrong. We have become so reliant and dependent on our computers, phones, and general ease-to-access technology devices that we really could become lost without them. I will be honest in saying that I rely on my computer and the internet quite a bit because I work from home. Without the internet or my computer, I would likely be more active, however. It is a catch 22. I know I depend on technology more than I should and I am working to change that.

How much do you rely on technology/the internet in your day-to-day life? What if you suddenly didn't have access to these things?

    Short answer: It depends.

    The tl;dr:
If it's my day to day working life or if I'm doing nothing then I'll rely on technology for entertainment and communication. I hate feeling disconnected from others and these days I can't do anything without music or a youtube video playing in the background, I even go to sleep with my headphones in.
Although, one thing anyone I'm friends with will tell you is that as soon as I'm in the company of a friend of a small group of friends then my phone stays in my pocket. The longest I recall not using much technology was in the Summer of 2016 which was just over a month where I'd use my phone maybe once every couple of days.

As for your question of what if I suddenly didn't have access to those things all I can say is that it was a reality for me for a short while and I could not stand the solitude.

That is what I think would bug me as well. I am not very social offline but I do like to socialize online. I have been doing it for 10 years now and without it, if nothing else is going on, I just feel overwhelmingly lonely. I know if I had kids and owned a house, things would be vastly different though. You tend to have less "free time" to notice what is missing that you are used to having on a day-to-day basis.
