Scammers in India seem to be a problem

I watch Kitboga on Twitch now and then and most of his interactions if not all of them have been with Indian men. If you are not familiar with him, he gets scammer sites, numbers, e-mails, and so on from people and then just trolls the crap out of them. He tries to get information from them so he can report it. He goes above and beyond, really funny to watch.

That is his channel ---- Twitch

Anyways, I have noticed myself when getting scam calls that they are always Indian men. What are they gaining from this? Is it just them taking advantage of people who are not tech-savvy and getting money out of it? I never fell for one.

That's precisely it. Plus it isn't really policed in India. Their culture relies heavily on bribes, so tons of illegitimate businesses remain operational despite thousands of international complaints. They mainly prey on old folks who don't know any better and will wire money to "fix" the tech problem that the Indians themselves install on your system.

As I understand things their monthly wages are super low considering that it's a third-world country. A single score of a few hundred bucks is well worth the time and risk investment for them. Of course it's disgusting and dishonest, but I may think differently if I was in their shoes. The part that bothers me most isn't the scamming but rather how angry and rude they can be. When they get called out or get the sense that the victim is wise to their scam they get super mean rather than just hanging up a lot of the time. I can somewhat respect someone doing what they need to do to survive but it seems almost as if they feel righteous about scamming people.
