    The war against gender

We have a lot of people these days trying to teach our youth that having a gender is a bad thing and we should all be genderless creatures. Some go as far to call it a "lie" meant to control us. Now the issue I have here has nothing to do with gay, straight, bi, or people who want to be the other sex. My issue is that there are people saying that being a MALE or FEMALE is wrong. They are also slapping science in the face by saying this.

We learn this is school. The male does what he does and the female becomes pregnant. If we don't have a barrier of male/female then who is to say men can't have babies!? OH, RIGHT, SCIENCE SAYS THAT THEY CAN'T!

Maybe I am being to annoyed by things lately but stuff like this really bugs me.

A lie? Hmm. I'm not sure what exactly determined how we'd develop on a biological level and evolve, but life obviously has two sexes to procreate. As for gender, it looks like the dictionary has rewritten itself, or rather added a side note:

    gender
the state of being male or female (typically used with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones).
I'm not sure how happy liberal types would be with that extra information being in parentheses. Also, it's interesting how it says "typically", since it seems only certain countries give a damn about this whole thing, particularly the US. I doubt many people in Africa or Asia could give a rat's ass about the 9001 other supposed genders, so I don't know what's so "typical" about it, especially given how this shift of opinion is relatively recent.

People can identify as whatever they want for all I care. I find it quite annoying. Like the vegan zealots, so long as they don't try to shove their beliefs down my throat I'm not too bothered by it. What does bother me though is how some batshit crazy teachers are trying to impose this on our new generations. I'll be reasonable for a second and go against science, and say that what gender really means is a matter of opinion. Okay, fair enough. You know who are generally incapable of a logically sound opinion? That's right, children. They're very impressionable. They'll believe anything if you try hard enough. (Which isn't very hard.) The best the educational systems can do is teach them what we have known for a long time as hard science, which is that with the very rare exception of hermaphrodites there's just males and females. Nothing else is needed. If they want to form their own opinions and dye their hair blue when they grow up, fine. But squandering good education on this is absurd. What's next—elementary school gender studies?
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I identify as a wealthy female, so give me all your money if you don't want to oppress me.

Kidding aside, I have to agree. These agendas don't belong in schools. Children are there to be educated, not indoctrinated. They should be taught facts, not opinions.

Political correctness has gone mad. It isn't even "correct." It has nothing to do with equal treatment anymore. No one seems to want equality. They seem to want to be special and receive special treatment.

Like @Mantis, I don't really care what other people do, until they try to force it on me (or especially on kids).

Yup! Kids being "trained" or "conditioned" is NOT COOL! I believe in God but do I go around saying ALL school systems teach about him? No! School is just as you said, it is for stone cold facts, not opinions. Anything that is remotely based on an opinion should not be taught but chances are we would have to do away with most history lessons. We all know the winner writes the history.

I say this all the time... I don't care what you want to be, or who you choose to love but it should never harm someone else or force someone else to accept your ideals. I will never refer to that Jenner guy as a female. He is a male. If he and his friends want to call him a female to support him and his change, fine. You can't force me to do it too just because you don't want your feelings hurt.

Since when does disagreeing = oppression, racism, homophobia? So over this PC culture.

    Agreed, again.

I guess saying "I don't care" isn't really accurate. What I should have said, is I'm not trying to judge people. I don't "hate" anybody, just because I disagree with them.

Now, if someone is open to such a discussion then I will certainly participate, but I don't just go around randomly trying to force my beliefs on people. I'll share with them, but if they aren't interested, it is ultimately their choice.

Shouldn't the same be afforded to me (all of us)?

It is bad but I do joke about it... Like I say things like "I identify as a 1920's housewife" and feminist really seem to hate that because they can't attack me. I am a woman and I am identifying as something that I am clearly not. I am not from the 1920's and as hard as I can try, I can't fully live that way. Heck, I am sitting at a computer right now! lol A joke I see online a lot is identifying as an attack helicopter. I still don't get where that started but it makes me laugh every time.

As with sexuality and religion, I'm the same with this. Whatever you want to identify as, more power to you. But don't tell me my opinion or my way of thinking is wrong. I personally don't buy into the "more than 2 genders" camp, but if you do, that's fine and dandy. But if you try to call me a "bigot" or "homo/transphobic", then we have a problem.
I do find it funny that most people who claim to be open minded about things like this are the same ones damning anyone with a differing opinion.

I sympathize with transgender people, I really do. As someone who already feels very 'out of place' in their own body, I can't imagine what it must be like to be born 'feeling' like one gender (even having the geniltillia) but having to stare at a very different body in the mirror every morning.

    The war against gender-476b32e126bc394b7ce3c00329b70202-jpg
(This image is representative of body dysmorphia, though I imagine it is a similar feeling.)

I would even say that gender binaries in general are often unhealthy for both genders, the pressure on men to be 'strong' and 'masculine', just think about the common notion that it is considered a weakness for men to cry. That's fucked up, and that isn't even mentioning the constant pressure on young women to look like the underfed models in the magazines. It's no wonder that so many young women end up developing eating disorders, significantly more than young men I should add, since we all know that taking pride in our appearance is considered 'feminine'. Imagine what it must be like for women with body hair (and not even a small amount in some cases) who are expected to shave it off because it is considered unsightly, yet it is 'natural' for men. Our society has some incredibly fucked up standards that have been ingrained in us for centuries, I wouldn't claim to find a woman with body hair to be attractive (I'm disgusted by body hair in general myself, including beards) but the double standards that are being imposed here are nothing short of hypocritical.

At the same time, you might say it is the 'natural order' of things for the man to be Mr. Masculine, good with a hammer and earning a living for his family, and for the woman to stay at home and look after the children while fluttering her eyelashes. I don't know, and I won't ever claim to know-- all I know is it must suck for those of us who don't necessarily fall into either camp, feel alienated, and end up falling between the cracks of our society. For that reason, we need to be more open-minded as a population, though I won't claim that all transgender people's hearts are in the right place. Similarly to how you wouldn't blame Muslims for ISIS, don't blame transgender people for SJW culture. It's all too easy to point fingers when you aren't the one who has to live with it.

Based on what? Research shows that a higher percentage of males are obese than females. While it's true that the vast majority (eight or nine out of ten I believe) of anorexics are female, only around 3% of the American population could be considered anorexic. On the other hand, about 3/4 of Americans could be considered overweight and 1/3 obese. Of course usually obesity and eating disorders go hand in hand, so going by these statistics one could argue that males likely feel a similar pressure that leads to comfort eating. How many films have overweight heroes? Not many. Most heroes/protagonists are fit males, and we were surrounded by this media throughout our childhood. We've always had the message "the attractive guy gets the hot girls" drilled into our heads growing up too. It's no wonder it's true. Generally speaking, fit people are more attractive. That's life, no matter how much overweight people may wish it weren't true. The point I'm trying to make is that I believe men are just as affected by this kind of thing as women. Society just chooses to avoid looking at that side of the story.
