What is something that would make the world better if we didn't have it?

You can name just about anything here, just give a reasoning why. I feel like there are a number of things that would make the world better for different reasons. I know for me, there are things that I don't like that the general public tends to be okay with but if they didn't exist, I could bet the world would be a better place. One of those things is alcohol. As much as people enjoy it, I think it does far more harm than good. I think that people would be more motivated and less inclined to make mistakes without it around.

Tarantulas. I don't need to go into details. The very mention of that name should tell you why.

Most forms of social media, if I can be honest. I think if Facebook, Instagram, Vine, and even Twitter didn't exist, and our social media was limited to more primitive methods (like this here forum, for instance) then we would probably get along more peaceably. We wouldn't have the constant rat race of living solely to impress each other and outdo each other with how great the artificial facades of our online lives are. Because that's the problem with Facebook, Instagram, et al: people create a multifaceted artifice around themselves, weaving an ornate tapestry to depict an idealized concept of what their lives ought to be like rather than what their lives are like in reality. It's a shallow, vapid, and pointless pastime that only deepens the void each man has between himself and his fellow man in the digital world, as well as deepens the unhappiness of many by making them envious without reason.

No way, Tarantulas are amazing and beautiful animals.

What would make the world a better place would be the removal of delusional people like Donald Trump, Putin, North Koreans Kim, and such. Also, Korea being whole again.

    Mankind.

A species which only brings destruction, extinction, pollution and others should be erased for the sake of every other lifeform in the universe.
    Never overestimate mankind.

I would have to disagree. I think that mankind's beneficial contributions outweigh his malevolent ones. But that's my view on the subject. I am a humanist at heart, and a classical humanist at that. I believe that mankind has limitless potential to better himself, and that if we persevere even in the face of the darkest and most profound adversities, we will at last mount the golden steps to Olympus and enter the brightest and most profound epochs in the years to come. Yes, mankind is shallow and brutish and nasty; but he is also inventive and able to recognize true beauty in even the smallest and seemingly most insignificant things.

But that's just my opinion on the subject.

Weapons of mass destruction like the Atom Bomb, Hydrogen Bomb and Nuclear Weapons. I hate weapons that can destroy a whole nation and the whole world when it comes to nuclear missiles. Without it wars would be like ww1 and the early part of ww2 more man to man with the exception of tanks and other Modern day weapons.

Social media has done great things for people but it has become such a virus in many of our lives, it is hard to just ignore the problems with it anymore. Any time I am on Twitter, I just see people arguing and complaining. I don't use Facebook but some people in my family do... A few spend more time on Facebook than with family anymore.

I always say social media brings the worst out in people and it is more true now than ever before. I remember Myspace and how that used to get with people and that was when it was mostly a bunch of teens. You have all age groups on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and they are all fueled by this idea that the more attention they get, the better people they are. They don't even care if it is good or bad attention anymore.

In almost any case there are two sides to every coin. However I would have to settle on greed. The drive for more power or money than you will ever need only to spend it on even more luxuries to further your status. World would be a better place without the longing to extend their borders and cause war, or further their wealth through political scandals, or take away peoples jobs and put them on the streets so they can buy their yacht, etc.

I'm going for AIDS and Cancer, both incurable diseases, these two ailments have caused tens of millions of deaths in this century alone. If it didn't existed then the world would have never lost all those people.
