What is worse - Lying or Ignoring?

In terms of relationships you have with people. These can be intimate, family, or just friendships.

What would you say is worse? Someone who is willing to lie (even with good intentions) or someone who will ignore you if they don't want to be bother with you, or if they don't want to be honest with you.

I was talking to someone that said there is nothing worse than a liar and then said, well maybe someone who just avoids the truth. I guess this is the way I am asking. Straight out lying or just avoiding the truth.

Lying. Especially when someone trusted your words. Really, that hurts much more than someone who just ignores bitter reality. Liars tend to be delusional as well. Especially those who do it for their personal enjoyment.

Personally I'm ignoring in nature which is something I need to seriously work on, just ask my soon to be ex wife :[

But lying I feel is much worse to others. As KloeRinz said, when people trust your words, it hurts more. You build something together with someone and you have to have this open end relationship about anything otherwise you will create a wave of distrust that may never be repaired.
Ignoring I feel is much different since you aren't making things up but you are running away from the situation. I feel if you are passively ignoring someone, such as not starting a conversation about something that needs to be addressed it's not as bad as say someone who is being asked about something and choosing to ignore it entirely.
For example, say you know a best friend who is cheating on their significant other, you don't want to get involved with it, you ignore it. And if it never gets brought up again it's not in your hands to tell other parties what's going on, I consider that in the more passive side. Now let's say one of your friends ask you about it and you just don't want to have a conversation about it, it goes into the realm of lying as well as actively ignoring it. It might need to be discussed and if you say you don't know about the affair but you really did, you are making the situation harder for yourself.

Sorry if it's long winded. It was the best way I could explain it hahaha. But lying is worse to me, it causes more problems for everyone.

I vote ignoring, because ignoring often is essentially lying. People who are passive-aggressive will primarily try to avoid a direct conversation that might put them on the spot. When they fail to do this they'll often manipulate somebody. They might even lie and badmouth him/her to another person to try to get him/her to back off and "have the last laugh".

I just can't stand people who have no balls and instead of being assertive and resolving any misunderstanding or argument, they run away like a mouse. Despite what some might say, we all lie and we all have skeletons. Nobody's perfect. At least some of us want to make things right if there's bad blood, even if that means parting ways afterwards. Nothing worse than a coward who always retreats to a safe place with no explanation.

Personally, I would be going with lying. To me, it's better you ignore me than lie to me about something, not even with the best of intentions for the lie, I would find it difficult to understand. I can quite feel less worried that you are ignoring or avoiding to tell me something I'm asking about. I might rule it that you aren't yet comfortable with discussing it.

But once I discover that you lied to me for just once, it would put everything that you ever told me which I took hook, line, and sinker in the limelight of doubt in my head all over again and the lasting end of it, is that I would end up losing my trust in you and whatever you say would be taken into doubt.
Lying ruins relationship more than cheating in my opinion.

That is a good way of looking at it. I know someone in my family who does this. Instead of lying, she just avoids everyone. Though, we are fully aware she openly lies now so it is both really which is even worse. I used to say I hated being ignored because the person ignoring me often made me feel underappreciated but from your point of view, they should be the ones ashamed of the nature.

I have had relationships that ended because I was being ignored. Nothing was really said after and I always found that it was a crappy way to end any kind of relationship.

    I too vote ignoring.
That one always feels more like a slap to the face.

Basically both are terrible, its just that one version is a knock-off of the other. Speaking as a person who's been on the giving end much much more than on the receiving one, I would say it all depends on the person you do this to.Some people are the strong silent type. It does not really matter if you lie straight to their face or ignore their ass, the reaction is still the same. There's also the emotional type, these people always want to be told what's up, and more often than not you may find yourself lying to protect their feelings. From my experience, when you find yourself having to ignore a person, it's probably because you know they won't agree with whatever you say. It is much easier to let the results of whatever you don't to tell them show first and speak for themselves. I am more like you Mantis, owning up to mistakes and all, but you cannot be like with everyone.

Always be with someone who is honest.

Now lying and/or ignoring... oh that is a tough one.

I want to say both. But I reckon for me being ignored is much worse.
