    Lightbulb Candles

You'll probably think I'm some kind of sheltered neanderthal for saying this, but I'd never tried using candles before. I grew up seeing plenty of candles. My mother has always used them around her house throughout much of each year. Sure, they're atmospheric in ways but I didn't see any major appeal in them.

I got this as a gift and think it's really cool. It's one of those monitors from Sonic 1 you jump on for rings, an extra life or power-ups. So it looks cool as it is there but you can also flip around the glass candle jar inside to show the different monitor sprites. (Extra life being the one shown as well as rings, invincibility and the speed shoes.) It's a scented candle. They named the scent "Green Hill Zone", which is actually just watermelon, but watermelons are one of my favourite fruits so that's a bonus.

I think the flame adds more to this room during late evenings than any kind of artificial lighting would. My only real gripe is that candles can be a little expensive depending on the type. Ideally I'd like to find some square candles to go into the glass jar so I can continue to use the Sonic monitor. I ordered another from the Sega Shop as they're really cheap at the moment. As well as a Jet Set Radio candle, kind of basic but meh...

Anyways, I guess that's all beside the point. I just figured this would make a nice random and dorky thread. Do you use candles often? At all?

Yeah, I like them. I have almost zero sense of smell so I don't care if they're scented or not, but I love the ambiance that a candle or fireplace can add to a room. My buddy who does woodworking made me some candelabras & I usually get a few each Christmas as well that last me throughout the year. The difficulty is remembering to put them out, because I'll put them on during a long night of gaming and I get so used to them that I've had to go back to put them out more times than I'd like to admit. I'll be just about to get in bed and think "oh shi-!"

I have been using them since I was like 13 I think. Even though my mother always yelled at me not to light them in my room and one time a gel one did break and start a small fire above my TV... LOL

I mainly only use those high-scent ones that are very sweet. I like them for the smell as well as the ambiance. I probably have like 8 of those bulky big ones in the glass jars around the house. My favorite one is a cotton candy one my mother's friend got for me. It had a ring inside it. I can't remember what the candles are called but they all have a decent quality ring in them and you have a chance at winning an expensive ring with real diamonds.

I think they might be called diamond candles actually.

I don't use candles normally, but I always have some in case the power goes out. I like candlelight. It's very soothing. :-)
