Hmm, I can see where you're coming from. I'd probably say not really in my case though. Everyone in my family seemed to be spending similar amounts. That is, except my full sister. She is on mega money. She spends thousands on her kids at Christmas for some kind of validation. Her kids are largely trophies to her and to some extent she does this to show that she's the best sibling and a much better mother than her own. The lack of self-awareness is real.

So if anyone's been making anyone feel bad, it would probably be her. It doesn't really bother me though. I'm just glad to be able to spend some time with my nephew and niece, even if I can't spend nearly as much money on them.

I honestly never understood spoiling your kids rotten on Christmas. Like when I was growing up, my parents spent more than they should have really. I think they were spending $400 on each of us. To me, that is way too much. I mean we didn't even get that on our birthdays. Like even if I was well off and had kids, I wouldn't spend more than $200 on each of them. Not because I don't enjoy buying gifts, I honestly enjoy it more than receiving them, but because I don't want them to think Christmas is just about getting stuff. It is too commercialized as it is.

Unfortunately I'm certain that I already own one of them which is the first volume of Vagabond. A very meaty book. It was a bad coincidence. Everyone was having a fun time so I didn't want to put a damper on that. I'll probably find a way to trade the spare. The second manga is one I'm very eager to read: she got me the second volume of 20th Century Boys. Apparently the first volume was out of stock, but that doesn't matter. I'll just get the first when I can and start reading this series. It's from the author of Monster so I'm bound to enjoy it.
20th Century Boys is great, I'd say it's basically Monster but instead of it being a crime/mystery thriller, it's a sci-fi/mystery thriller. I think you'll really enjoy it.

For Christmas, my wife got me an Adidas jacket, some new socks and slippers (I did have a new pair but they were giving me static shocks on everything), and two t-shirts (one DBZ one Seinfeld). Also a game, but I haven't picked one yet and she's going to buy it for me.

My in-laws got me a nice aftershave which I wanted, so I was also very happy with that.

So if you got anything beforehand, or know of somethings you are getting, feel free to share. Or just post after Christmas if you won't be getting anything until then.

I for one know of one gift I am getting. Kind of spoiled it for myself when I was at my mom's helping her move stuff around. I had mentioned wanting a new dish set and one of the gifts that was wrapped for me from my parents was a very heavy box, the size of a dish set so I am almost certain that is what was in it. I don't know what color or kind but, whoops. LOL Not a big deal, it will still be a surprise to see what design it is.
