I'll start, same as last year:

(and every year to come! I swear, if one of you punks messes with my holiday tradition...)

Here it is: The Beast. I took a lot of photos, but chose this one from farther back so you can hopefully get an idea of how huge it is. it now stands at 12' tall, after being trimmed from 13'~13.5'. The Angel wouldn't go on top at first because she hit the ceiling. For the first time ever I went out to a tree farm and cut this one down myself. It took 45 minutes or so, not counting hauling it back to pay for it & getting it in our van.



...we also got some snow already! Once last week and once on Monday this week. We're expecting 1' to 1.5' tomorrow! I know I'm in the minority here, but I love snow. (I may remove this photo tomorrow to update with the larger, more impressive snowfall that arrives tomorrow)

I haven't seen a real one used indoors in a long, long time. My family and friends always opted for the fake ones. While I am not into trees myself, I do like seeing what people do with them and if I ever decided to do a tree, I would make sure it was a real one.

Huh. That's sad. I know a few people who have one, but they certainly don't get a real one every year. I've never had a Christmas with a fake tree. We have had smaller fake ones in the house, but the main one in the living room w/ presents under it has always been real. I can't have Christmas with a plastic tree, I'd rather just light up a menorah at that point.

I wonder if it's due to the areas in which I've lived or if it's more about my traditional-style family. There's gotta be a reason I'm so adamant about never changing the way I do things.

I grew up with them. My mother hated real trees so she always had the fake ones. I guess it is less hassle? It was always a big deal, still is for her, and she gets mad over it every year. When I stilled lived with her, she would get mad that I didn't help out like I was 10 years old or something and then blame me when something didn't look right. Maybe this is part of the reason I don't much care for trees to begin with. My husband and I joked about decorating a cat tree one year but I think we are just going to seriously do it so when people come over, they will be assured that we are out of minds. lol

Sorry I hadn't responded sooner. I guess I decided to wait until I'm ready. That's one phat tree, Zem. I'm officially jealous.

The time has come again. I'm spending a day with my parents now for one of the only times in 2020. Since we won't get a New Year's celebration we'll make the most of it. I got some photos of course. As always my mother's gone over the top with her decorations.



I miss seeing a real tree but I do like the frosted style of this.

Because the app is dumb I'm having to post these two extra photos separately. They're just more decorations including some angels. (I never really saw the appeal!)

Very nice, I like the frosted tree as well even if it is artificial. They had live purple and blue trees at the place where I was cutting them down, i think they use a type of tree-safe spray paint. I also like your kitchen area with the cool blue lighting. Very Winter-y.

Merry Christmas to you as well. I merged your posts because I'm lucky enough to be home this holiday with family coming here so my PC is handy.
