    Cons?

So my first ever convention is coming up this weekend. It's kinda hard to describe what its about though. It's an awkward mashup between comics, anime, starwars, and startrek. I plan on going as one female character from each genre each day (three day long con). For the comic nerds out there I'll be going as Death from Vertigo comics. As for starwars I was thinking about doing Queen Amadala as a nowadays teenager. Lastly, I think we can all surmise what female character I plan on going as. I want to go as either Melfina, "Twilight" Sazuka, or "Hot Ice" Hilda. Help me decide. I have dark hair like all the girls, naturally, so there is no need for product coloring. I can pretty much capture their outfits pefectly, I just need to decide who I can pull off best. Any thoughts?

    RE: Cons?

Hmm. I notice you posted your Facebook as your website and I can say that there's definitely a Suzuka look to you, more so than Hilda or Melfina. I'd ask to see other cosplay but as you haven't done this before, I think Suzuka is a good choice. A bokken (wooden sword) should be easy enough to get, but the costume won't be easy. Probably the most difficult to create of the bunch actually, and I don't know if it's sold anywhere. I do know that Melfina costumes are sold on eBay, but I don't know much about the quality of them.

Then again, since you're confident about the outfits I guess this'll be a non-issue? Rather than colouring, what kind of hairstyles suit you? Glad to see you're going to be cosplaying Outlaw Star though! I look forward to seeing it. I'm not a Star Wars/Star Trek nerd myself but it sounds like you've got most of this figured out.

    RE: Cons?

I've only been to one Con in Hartford, CT- in the summer of 2006 with a friend from School. It was pretty fun, and I got to travel elsewhere doing it too.

I've thought about going to MegaCon one day on one of my Florida vacations to Ft. Myers, though. However, Orlando seems quite a drive...

    RE: Cons?

Depends on how you wanna play the day.
With Mel you'll have a more relaxed role, yet still spunky.
As for Hilda you will be expected to have spontaneous moments of sheer badassery,
    which would be awesome-sauce.
Then with Suzuka you can wail on your friends with your weapon!

    You can't lose! 8)

    RE: Cons?

Well just an update on the con, it was REALLY small. I decided to not dress up after I arrived because of how few people were dressed up. It was kinda a let down. Note to self, ABQ sucks for cons.

    RE: Cons?

Damn. That's a shame. Well, like Asher said, there's always next time, and we'll be here to give you feedback on whichever character you decide to cosplay as. I'll probably be going to my first con in August, one for game designers. Though I won't have anything much to present this summer, I'd like to see others' work which is always inspiring. I'll be going on my own though, which isn't particularly fun...

    RE: Cons?

    Aw that sucks!

The cons i've been to are 1000 people, or 40,000 lol (two different types). And they're pretty fun.
You're asking for historical accuracy in a series where men weilding three swords in each hand, pirates surfing across land on giant anchors, horses with motocycle parts attached and feudal-era Power Rangers are the norm?
