    Brianne Brozey Support Thread

Greetings, fellow outlaws. I wish I was starting a thread for a happy occasion, but unfortunately that is not the case here.

As you may or may not have heard, in 2011 Brianne "Bree" Brozey a.k.a. our own James "Jim" Hawking had a terrible on-set injury which has since left her immobile and in almost constant pain. To literally add insult to injury, despite the accident being avoidable and in no way her fault, workers' comp has been unacceptably slow to act and her family has had to fight tooth and nail to get the medical treatment she deserves and desperately needs.

Her family has set up a YouCaring fundraiser in an attempt to get any bit of monetary support they possibly can. You can read more about it here:

    https://www.youcaring.com/medical-fu...329777#updates

I'm sure none of us here are made of money, but I figured this is exactly the kind of good for which a fandom can strive to fight (Mantis was already kind enough to have shared this some time ago on the Nexus Facebook page, but sadly the family is still in as dire of a situation as back then).

Most of us as fans may not personally know Brianne, but I know everyone reading this has been positively affected by her professional work. Outlaw Star has been there for us during some tough times; now it may be time to return the favor. If you are unable to contribute anything financially at this time, please at least consider spreading the word as best as you are able (perhaps even a little prayer before you go to sleep, if you're so inclined). Any little bit may help, and right now Brianne sure as heck could use it.

Thank you all for taking the time to look into this, and a BIG thank-you to anyone who is able to donate to the fund. I yearn for a day when we can all hear from Brianne's family that she is on the mend and feeling more like her former active and cheerful self.

My prayers and support go out to you and your family, Brianne. We 'outlaws' won't be able to sleep soundly at night until all these wrongs are righted, and you're all better. Please hang in there.

I don't know if I heard about five years ago or not since my memory is horrid, but likely even if I did remember, I'd be hurt to see that this is still an issue after over five years. This is a sign that humanity needs to learn to change and help each other- if I had money, I'd donate even a dollar, but since I can't, I just have to watch from the side and push the fact to others that this is a serious issue. It's depressing in a way for other reasons though, to me...Mostly because my dad has been talking about making something like this for my own medical costs and such.

    I can't even begin to imagine the pain she feels, even as a fellow cervical-injury-haver. Just the imagery and the story itself are painful...Let alone the physical pain itself. Can I hug her yet? I at least want to do that... ;-;

I did donate when I posted this on Facebook some time ago, but I'm going to chip in more now. I wish others would do so too since it's quite sad that after these years she hasn't earned much more than $15k. If she was an A-list celebrity she'd have skyrocketed past that in hours. I've also left a comment with my new donation, so if she would like to get in touch and leave any comments I'll pass them on via Facebook, the Outlaw Star group I manage (this is separate to the Nexus page), and here of course.

    Thanks for posting this thread!

What a terrible thing to have go live with every day, hopefully knowing that she has had such a positive influence on so many of us outlaws' lives brings at least some relief to the pain. I'll be sure to chip in when I can, I've tried a good couple of times already but it keeps declining my card.

I had no idea this happened. This is so sad. I'll donate, for sure. No one deserves to go through life like this. This is so darn sad.

I wasn't quite sure to post this, so Admin feel free to move if you deem it necessary, but an update on Brianne: As the original fundraising link will attest (at the beginning of this thread), Brianne still has daily battles ahead of her, and the physical and psychological scars of such an ordeal may, sadly, never go away.

But...while she may not be able to do much on-camera work, she has bravely gotten back onto the proverbial saddle of voice acting!! Here is a glimpse from (what I believe is) her first voice-over/anime role since her injuries in 2011.

    https://youtu.be/uwRl9UJ_GVw?t=21m36s
I chose the 21:36(ish) mark of this particular upload just as a nice showcase of her science-minded character, Yuki, in the recently dubbed mini-series Ai Tenchi Muyo!

**SPOILERS** for Ai in this link, so if you're a Tenchi Muyo! fan, I recommend starting from the beginning and watching it at some point, as Matt returns as Tenchi, Petrea as Ryoko, as do a whole bunch of other blasts from the past.)

In this scene, she plays opposite character Hana (orange hair), played by Dorothy Elias-Fahn (whom Trigun fans will remember as Meryl Stryfe), who catches her in the middle of bribing students for an upcoming school election. Hilarity ensues as Yuki, a troublemaker with a heart of gold, shows once again...outlaws NEVER go down easy!!

So, yeah, I figured even if you're not a Tenchi Muyo! fan, this would be welcomed news to many on this board: just hearing Brianne at work again--amazingly at that--brought me a lot of joy.

No need my man! I actually saw your reply yesterday and read some of the posts from the campaign page, watched a couple of the videos, etc., even though I had a couple of years back. It was a sad time indeed and I can't imagine the pain she was in, but I'm happy the worst is over. Her voice work in the linked video is great and I'm glad she's back to doing what she clearly loves. (After all, you can tell the amount of heart she puts into her characters.)

Stay strong, Brianne. That's what outlaws do.
