Thread: If given the chance, would you go to space?

I am one of few who will give you a firm NO on this one. I know that sounds silly given the fact that I enjoy a lot of space themed shows and anime (Outlaw Star being one) but I feel like there is a fear of the "unknown" and the whole "heights" thing coming into play that freak me out.

How about you, would you ever go to space if you were given the chance?

It would be depending on the contract (duration, pay, conditions etc...).
If the contract suits me, ok. If not, i'll pass.
For me going to space is pretty much like going abroad : make it worth my while and teach the language, then ok.
If not, no.

Haha! Why would I want to do that? Space is the definition of hell. I actually admire the astronauts who dare to leave earth's atmosphere. There are so many ways to die while in space. Imagine if your spacesuit got ripped open by something, you would be exposed to temparatures of below -156 degrees C. Another possibility is your glass helmet shattering, which would be followed by you suffocating to death. I would only agree to going to space if I was tired of life.

Yeah this is what I think. Like I have had people ask me and when I say "Heck no!" they say WHY NO!? Well, there are plenty of reasons. While it is cool people do this and enjoy it for a living, I think I would go insane before I even left the atmosphere. lol

It really depends on what you mean by "go to space". In the coming years we should see commercial space travel. One company that's planning this is Virgin Galactic. You'll be able to be a space tourist, potentially. You'd probably also be travelling with at least a couple of celebrities. The cost for a trip?

$250,000!

If I had that cash lying around, would I go to space? Hell yeah!

I am speaking in general, be it for/with NASA or just for a tourist attraction. My answer is still no either way. Space scares me lol

I'd love to go to space, to be frank. I'd love to explore the cosmos, start a new colony on a new planet, etc. It would be a one-of-a-kind experience.

I would really love to go to space if given the chance just to settle this debate of whether there is a space or not.

For me space is not that appealing in reality, even or should i say espacially if it was in a civilised state like in space operas.
Why ? Because it would only be a geographical extension of our reality, and would it be our sociétés, building of reality etc... don't suit me.
Extending it to space would only make it worst, because a bigger pile of shit still is shit.

I read somewhere that by 2021, there will be a luxury hotel in space which will be launched from earth. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
