Here's our tree, freshly cut and set up just moments before this photo...

I'm loving this becoming a tradition. Certainly boosts the whole Christmas spirit. That is a rad Christmas tree! I like the angel. She almost looks like the gender neutral Santa Claus. (I kid. )

I don't tend to decorate my apartment much since it's quite small, but I always spend Christmas with family and my mother loves to decorate. I'll take some photos when I visit next. She has a few trees. One of them is real, but it's a smaller one.

She's put my 3D-printed Japanese-style angel (actually a candle holder but doesn't need to be used for that) on display again (not the angel for the tree) which makes me wish I'd repaired my 3D printer and printed a few festive models. Too late, but I'll be sure to print (and learn to paint!) many for next Christmas.

Merry Christmas, guys and gals! 🎄

p.s. You missed the opportunity for some Christmas humour. This is clearly the Treequel!

    Mantis gets coat.

Me too! I like having things like this to look forward to. Makes life just a little bit easier each day.
As I've said a few times already, I'm really feeling the Christmas spirit this year and I don't even know why. Maybe someone slipped something into one of my drinks, and if that's the case then please continue to do so.

What's that look like? Google images isn't helping. If you do fix your 3D printer, I would like 1 Mantis-brand tree ornament, please. Perhaps in time we will see ornaments from one-another on the trees in these threads That would be so kawaii.

I always spend Christmas with family and my mother loves to decorate. I'll take some photos when I visit next.
Right, I took a look at the past CTTs (That's Christmas Tree Threads, for you newbies. Not to be confused with CBT, BBC, or BBW) and noticed that their posting dates were perilously late in the Christmas season which didn't leave much time for people to join in. I wasn't expecting anyone to have pictures at the ready, and I suspect that most of us live in apartments but perhaps as people gather with family they can share a bit of that Christmas magic here.

p.s. You missed the opportunity for some Christmas humour. This is clearly the Treequel!

I thought we were safe from this Neo-Nazi bullshit on an anime site but clearly I was mistaken. I should've made a Kwanzaa thread anyway, it would have been much less bigoted.

Since I'm not going to be decorating my apartment this Christmas (unfortunately) I'm in the process of decorating the forum instead. Enjoy.

I guess kawaii would actually be a good word for that printed angel. Just looks "cute" and thicc. I posted a photo somewhere but you'll have a better one in a few days. Heh, I like the idea of making ornaments for our trees. A little bit of an undertaking but it'd be nice to see.

Now that you mention it, that is indeed true. It wasn't me being late for a change. I recommend creating these threads closer to the beginning of December in future. It's hardly a crime to also keep things Christmassy a little longer, too. At least it wouldn't be like one of my old neighbours who left up Christmas decorations throughout whole years.

Damn, you're right. I just lost mad progression points. Don't worry, I'll make it up to you all.

I think I mentioned it on here before that I don't do the Christmas tree thing. Part of my beliefs not to take part in it.

I, however, do like the tradition of it. Most people come together as a family to decorate it and they all have their own things they do to make it more of an event to remember. Since me and my husband, both don't take part, we are considering doing something similar but not quite a tree. We just haven't figured anything out yet.

Open to suggestions if anyone has creative ideas.

Is this some kind of Pagan thing? As far as beliefs go, I'd say there's often a lack of it. Many atheists celebrate Christmas. I think the religious focus has been taken away from Christmas (in most cases anyway) for a long time now. Perhaps this is something since Christmas started becoming more commercialised.

Either way, I just see it as a time for having fun and indeed spending time with family. To me the gift-giving is a larger part of it. A little off-topic perhaps and this is probably more a thing Zemekis could confirm because he has a Japanese wife, but I heard that in Japan, Christmas isn't a religious holiday at all, but more of an excuse for people to get together. (I know that Shinto and Buddhism are the main Japanese religions, but there are some Christians.) And that's what it is for me.

Christianity doesn't even cross my mind during Christmas. Neither does the history behind Halloween when I enjoy that.

In lieu of your home being graced with a tree, have this instead that I quickly found in an image search:

You could just use good Christmas lights. That can be just as nice as a tree when done properly.

There is bible scripture that is clearly against it. It deals with idolizing and worship of objects. I think this may be the same place the Jewish people pull from as to why they too don't use the tree, but I am not 100%. I would just rather be safe than sorry. I don't miss it really, Christmas hasn't bee all that great with my family in over 10 years. It is all about money and complaining.

Christmas in Japan is a couple's holiday if I am not mistaken, kind of like Valentine's Day.

Maybe the whole thing has been lost on me since my family just doesn't get along anymore. Christmas = complaining about food, money, and minor inconveniences. I don't have kids yet either so it isn't like I can do a close family thing without everyone else.

I have considered changing it a bit and making it more of a cat holiday just to be different. You know the whole "Catsmas" thing. lol

And Christmas, despite being raised for 12 years as a Catholic, has never felt like it had to do with Christ or the bible to me and even now that I am a Christian, it still doesn't.

Sorry for the delay. But you know what they say... better late than never!

May as well go with the main thing first... the bigger tree! It's hardly my family's best tree ever but I can't complain. Though it is artificial of course.

Next up is the real tree! What a treelet. I feel sorry for it. Probably should be put out of its misery. I believe it was bought because nobody else wanted it and was one of the last ones there.

Some random decorations. My mother always overdoes it.

SURPRISE!! It's a cameo appearance by President Xi Jinping! That was a long flight for him but I'm glad he can enjoy Christmas with us.

At the right you see that 3D-printed angel. I know it doesn't stand out too much, but Zemekis asked for a photo. It was one of my earliest prints. I printed it using bronze filament and it has a chibi style to it. If I learn how to paint 3D prints maybe I could make a white print look a lot better one day.

Only twenty hours until Christmas... at least in the UK. (I'd better get to bed. My sleep's way out of whack.)

I know where the star comes from but what about the angel on the tree? I remember my mom switched to one when I was in my teens and I never understood putting an angel ontop of the tree. Like isn't the star meant to be the north star?

The decorations look nice by the way.

I have an angel on the top of my tree as well. I think it represents the angel(s) that informed the 3 Wise Men and/or shepherds of Jesus' birth.
