Close (Online) Encounters of the Crazy Kind

So, this thread is for talking about any encounters you've had on the internet with people who seem a bit loopy. I'm not talking about shitposting in an eccentric manner or anything like that. I'm talking more about communications that may indicate literal insanity. This thread idea didn't come out of nowhere.

Every so often I watch videos about strange happenings from around the internet. I watched a video by Nexpo that (starting only a minute into it so I'd recommend watching some at least) features a part about a guy known as YAYVIDEOGAMES. His comments are extremely weird, but it really hit home because he seemed very similar to a man I know as Joe.

I'm calling him Joe because it was the start of one of his old usernames. I think it would be a dick move if I showed his full username but I'm going to provide some YouTube comments so you get the idea. Call him Joe Blow if you prefer. You see, I'm not sure if Joe ever realised this, but I—as with all YouTube uploaders—get notified by e-mail whenever (at least most of the time) somebody comments on my videos. So I have it all on record. Joe, however, always seemed to delete his comments almost immediately. I wonder whether he's doing this as a form of talking to me. Otherwise what's the point? Or maybe he's just very embarrassed by what he writes after he does it. Or doesn't know what he's doing.

One time I did get to reply to him but he still responded with more gobbledegook. They're always on my Outlaw Star videos. He has a thing for dragons as you will see. Joe wrote a comment today which also inspired this. He seems to enjoy the Gene and Suzuka fight clip the most as he returned every so often. So these aren't all at the same time.

    You be the judge.

    Next up, a different video...

Close (Online) Encounters of the Crazy Kind-joegeneharry-jpg

    Finally, a true Joe classic...

Close (Online) Encounters of the Crazy Kind-joemelfinagreatone-jpg

It's all quite perplexing to say the least. It reminds me of when Campbell goes completely mad in Metal Gear Solid 2 and produces the most random nonsense you'll ever hear in a video game—or probably any work of fiction for that matter.

But this is real life. I do have a few theories. The first one I think is unlikely. That would be that Joe is a troll trying to mess with me. It seems like a simple conclusion, but to be completely honest I do not think you could make this shit up. Unlike some YouTubers (if I could call myself that) I haven't dealt with that many trolls, but the usual reaction to a troll or any other online d-bag is just wanting them to fuck off. But with Joe it's different. Now, I know that laughing at the mentally ill is not nice. (Heck, I've suffered from mental illnesses.) But I find him a source of amusement. I wonder what Joe's going to comment next time if he'll ever return again.

So, the second theory is that Joe is indeed actually suffering from a form of insanity. It's plausible because I don't know how 99.9% of human beings could come up with this. I don't think it's far-fetched to say that Joe might go on to become an internet legend like YAYVIDEOGAMES. In that regard in some strange way I feel blessed to witness this kind of behaviour firsthand. Third theory is that it could be a bot or an AI that's gone out of control using certain keywords to generate incoherent responses. Yeah, 0.01% chance of this being the case. More likely than Joe being an alien. Keep in mind that Joe's recent username is somewhat sexual and that he probably has a delusional dragon fetish which supports the second theory.

Joe: I don't know who you are, what you are, or how you are, but one thing's for sure. There may be another Joe in the future, but there won't be another Joe. Keep being awesome, even if it's for all the wrong reasons.

So that's my most recent encounter. While I'm not sure if anybody else here has experienced something similar, feel free to discuss any of your own strange internet encounters.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I kind of want to see a talking puppy join the crew. Not sure how Lance would feel about losing his puppy., though.

"Only clean love sea dragons may turn blonde again...Joe is a true poet.
I've seen some really really weird people, but...Joe is on a whole new level. I honestly can't imagine him being a real
    person.

But the biggest question: where is the episode where someone fights a dragon, and why have you kept that hidden from us?!

Fuck that, I want to see the episode where Gene saves Melfina from the spider sisters along with Lance. Man, they cut out a lot from the show.

Technically this happened in the second episode, in a manner of speaking anyway. This dragon may have been conjured using Tao magic but it is unmistakably a dragon.

Unfortunately, after much research I can verify that the dragon's name is not in fact Puff.

Tell me about it. Joe is a trustworthy source and we could learn so much more from him. His insider info is worth more than pure dragonite. For the good of the Toward Stars universe I hope he'll divulge more one day.

The strangest thing I think I had happen to me online was back in the grand old Myspace days.

I wasn't on there much but I had a good 8 or so pictures of myself. I had a few online friends and one randomly PM'd me telling me I had to see something. He sent me to a link where someone (not sure if it was a guy or gal) was using my pictures. They lived in France or something and was claiming to be a model. I feel like it was someone who was using my pictures to catfish people. I was legit freaked out about it for a good hour. I ended up reporting it. I think it was taken down within a few days. I bet there were others doing stuff like this online, probably still do. I was only 16 at the time so it really creeped me out.

Yeah, I've dealt with a few. Some very recently and some years ago.

    1. there was this guy in a Skype group. Now, he openly admitted to being on medication and even mentioned a few of his mental illnesses which I'm not poking any fun at. The interesting part was WHAT he attached himself to in his delusions. It wasn't Sonic, it wasn't My Little Pony...he was 100% absolutely obsessed with Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy. He was normal 2/3rds of the time, but when he would have an episode or didn't know what to say he would post renditions of Battle on the Big Bridge from FF V. The worst part was that if you tried t engage or indulge him, he would shoot you down so quickly and correct you on minutia so harshly that it wasn't any fun.

    2. I think I already spoke about this on here, but there was a girl back in my days of minor YouTube popularity that would DM me and she seemed normal enough. Then she said she wanted to call me and 'interview' me. That went fine, we just talked about Zelda for like 10 minutes. Then she started telling me how she would often go hide in the woods and speak with a giant (i mean Shadow of the Colossus-sized) white ghost wolf. I told her that was bullshit and she went berserk, spamming hate comments on all my videos for days. She's blocked now.

Those are the ones that come to mind.

This sounds like something you'd find on Tumblr. I knew someone who liked a gal on there. She seemed normal and just really into wolves. Turns out the chick legit thought she was a wolf and would collect dead animals she found outside for some reason and put them in her shed. I can't believe it is 2019 and there are people like this still out there. The sad part is most of them are under the age of 25. I have to believe this is down to mental instability.
