    Would this be Cringe?

Would it be cringe if I named my daughter: Melfina?

    Thoughts?

Sort of. She'd probably be teased for it if other kids found out she's an "anime girl". I originally named my cat Melfina. That's okay because my cat won't be teased. Shortly after when a vet determined my cat is actually male I shortened the name to Mel.

Anime names and the like are okay for pets. People... maybe not so much.

A general rule of thumb that I like to go by; if you have to ask yourself if it's cringe, then %99.9 of the time it is. Granted, Melfina is a rather obscure name so your daughter probably wouldn't be as bothered or harassed than if you named your daughter like, say, Chi Chi or Bulma. Still, it's probably something you'd want to avoid unless you want your daughter to resent you once she gets into adulthood.

That's cringe. There's no mistaking that it's ripped straight out of an anime (google search "Melfina"), there's no way to deny it by claiming that it's a coincidence. When she's middle-aged, people will call her MILFina. Anime names that aren't common IRL are cringe, but you could get away with a common IRL name that's an hidden reference.

Anime names might be cringe, so I suggest video game names. Name her Rinoa and then I'll be happy.

Middle names are fine for something like this because she doesn't have to disclose it if she chooses not to but as a first name, I would never recommend naming a child after an anime character. A friend of mine named her son Jeffry "Goku" Smith (not the actual last name). He loves having the middle name and his friends call him by it but this can change as he gets older. He is 6 years old now.
