    Deep web?

Has anyone ever seen anything on it? I have never went looking nor want to just based on what I know. It almost freaks me out. I am just curious as to how many of you know about it, what it is, and if you have ever actually explored anything on it. I think most of the time, people who use it use it for getting a hold of drugs or weapons. The scarier aspects of it that involve actual abuse and murder only appeal to a very very small percentage of people out there.

I remember talking to someone a few years ago who went through some backdoor and ended up on some very dark website. It was like a cult gathering in a dark chat room and people immediately knew where he lives, who he was, and that he didn't belong. If that happened to me, I think I was be terrified for my life!! lol

Avoid it. Seriously. That's probably all I'm gonna' say about it.
No one's gonna' give you a map. You've gotta' walk your own path.

I thought it was called the dark web? Either way, I'd stay as far away from there as possible if I were you. I remember hearing somewhere that someone decided to access it to see what it was like and, assuming what this guy said was true, a screen of a man popped up and asked him what he was doing and this poor fellow logged out of there as quick as possible.

Scary stuff. I would never dream of even touching that place. I don't even know how you would find it, which is for the best as far as I'm concerned.

I've a few mates who went on the deep/dark web and told me about all the wonderful things you can find there, from hired hitmen to human trafficking.

Yeah, I've been on the dark web a bit. You should keep in mind that the two aren't the same thing. In fact, you probably use a lot of deep web sites yourselves. It just refers to sites that are protected by firewalls and other kinds of masking technologies. It doesn't necessarily mean they're immoral or even that they use onion networks. The dark web directly refers to onion sites, but more specifically the notorious ones.

I've seen some of them. You'd be surprised at the volume of completely legit trading that goes on, but yes, there are plenty of less moral transactions. I'm not sure if "hitman hire" or anything like that actually happens and often isn't taken seriously. I did hear about this Cthulhu group of assassins. I might check it out, just out of morbid curiosity. Those "red rooms" are also just an urban legend. There are certain sites I wouldn't be interested in going on, like those child networks. It takes a lot of work for governments to shut down sites like these, but I did read about one admin of such a site who was found. Let's just say that he'd better hope they have liquid soap.

    Human trafficking? Doesn't sound impossible.

You guys might enjoy this game. I've only played an hour so far, but it's been more tense than the dark web itself, haha. Well you know what's happened if I never log in again.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I actually watched a friend play that game. That is why I started the topic. I have heard it be called both things and generally around here they just call it the deep web. The parts I was speaking of were the bad areas though. Like human and drug trafficking. I am not sure how many people have actually done any browsing in these areas but I would imagine there are very few who do it out of curiosity. The whole idea of it scares me lol

Someone should make a movie about this... Or has one been made?

    Deep web?

I decided to (after not bothering for quite a while) have a browse soon after making that reply. The dark web really lives up to its name. On its fringe you can find vigilante hacking groups mostly comprised of script kiddies (usually teenagers who think they're pro hackers by writing a few basic scripts) who want to make a difference by shutting down all the terrible sites. All the power to them, but if it was that easy wouldn't the FBI or CIA have done this already?

Many of these dark web sites are practically impenetrable. I stumbled upon a site that sold massive collections of real rape videos for about $100, or you could send your own video and get the collection for free. This is horrible stuff and I bet these criminals are making a killing as they're feeding so many people's darkest desires.

I'll admit, I've watched a few nasty videos on Liveleak. I'm sure we've all watched at least one shock video. But the videos on these sites, they're beyond horrific. I know it might seem strange that I found these things out, but I'm quite thick-skinned when it comes to the web, so I investigated it. No way in hell I'd watch a video though.

Having said that, I still have doubts about actual assassination services.

I think one of the episodes of Black Mirror is about a boy who messed with the wrong people on the dark web. They blackmail him and make him do pretty terrible stuff. It's fiction but it probably could happen. It's such a good episodic series, so check it out on Netflix if you have it.

Edit: The episode is "Shut Up and Dance".

I will check that out, thanks!

And yeah like I have read stories of things happening online in those areas. I have only seen one bad video ever and it was those Isis guys beheading two men with a machete. Not something I wanted to see mind you, and old friend was like hey look at this! It was bad. I know it was real and it made me so sick to my stomach to see the 30 seconds of it I did. It was like a moment of looking and not being able to look away. I was in shock. It was a 8 minute video and I only did see 30 seconds but it was enough. The sounds, the screams... I just don't understand how people enjoy seeing this stuff.

I've seen exploded pieces of human remains on Google images before, so I can't imagine what horrible shit you'd find on there. That said, I would have loved to have had contact with an assassination service as a young teenager. That's right kids, if bullies are giving you grief then contact the Cthulhu Hit Squad!

I saw some groups on Facebook where they teach people how to dive into the Deepweb or darkweb as they call it. I found some videos like a man who was like crying while eating soup, there were two people behind him wearing a mascot type costume. I was wondering why would he cry while eating, I read through the comments and some people said he was eating a soup made from his wife's body parts. Well aside from not knowing how to dive into the darkweb, I don't have the time to study on how to do that, plus I really do not like stuff about gore and I don't want to end up being hacked just because I'm too nosy.
