Thread: What are you doing this year for Christmas?

This is the first year in awhile I will be spending it alone. Everyone is gathering at my uncles and it is too far for me. I will be spending time with my immediate family on Christmas Eve though. That will be more than enough "holiday spirit" for me. lol If you have a family anything like mine, they are fight and argue over the dumbest things and my mom is the second in command when it comes to gossiping and talking behind people's backs.

So I plan on just doing a bit of work and hanging out with the cats and my husband. It will be nice and quiet.

I'm lucky that my University is a 40 minute drive from my home town. Or an hour if i take the train to town and a bus home.

So I'm spending a week with the fam. But for the rest of the winter holiday I am doing my dissertation on facial motion capture.

Visiting my mom & sister on Christmas Eve, then Christmas with my Dad's side. This is their first year being divorced so we'll see how that goes/feels. I also got married yesterday (legally speaking, we filed the paperwork. The ceremony isn't for a year or two yet) so I anticipate this year's Christmas feeling very very different.

As far as I know, on Saturday I'll visit my family for the day, then on Sunday night I'll go and see my family again and stay there until either late Christmas or Boxing Day. I'll enjoy Christmas with my nephew and niece. They alternate spending it with my family and their dad who lives across the country, but I always prefer Christmas when the kids are here because they of course enjoy Christmas much more.

My family always argues like that, Korin. Also lots of gossiping, it's really annoying. Having the kids here sort of prevents them from being so dickish, so there's another bonus. Didn't we make some kind of Christmas tree thread last year? We ought to do something like that again.

Whatever you guys choose to do this year, HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS! The point is to enjoy it and the company you're with whether that be your whole family or just a single partner.

This one, young paladin. And thanks, Merry Christmas to you too. (And everyone else.) I wouldn't say I'm ready to make such a thread since I'm not currently at my family's place. I wanted to decorate my apartment this year but didn't really do much... Oh well!

So if anyone has a splendid tree to flaunt, feel free to make this year's tree thread. It'd be best to create a new one.

I'm really not sure what I'm going to do come Christmas Day, I'll spend the 24th and Christmas Eve with my wife and kids but on the 25th my wife and kids would go to her moms and stay until the 30th, It's some sort of a family emergency so I'll let them sort things out. Now what to do when all alone on Christmas Day?? I'll probably go to my Mom's house and spend Christmas there, I'll man the barbeque pit again.

I got a really nice real tree this year (well...we've had a real tree every year of my life. This is just my first year with a place of my own large enough to have one independently of my family. My state is 59% forest by area so it's not hard to get a tree affordably. You just need a pickup truck (or a buddy with one) to get some of these monsters home. I'd be happy to carry on the thread from last year. I'm a sucker for tradition. When I get home from work I'll take a picture if I don't have one with me. There is like nobody in the office so I'm pretty free today.

Just the usual. Christmas eve, I'll be going up to my parent's place for pizza dinner. On Christmas Day itself, I'm going back to my folks' place to open presents and then head off to an aunt on my mom's side to have spaghetti for supper.

I know it doesn't sound very exciting but it's a good time all the same.
