I have never been a fan of the drink. I think it is considered a southern drink here in the US. I prefer tea to be plain myself but when I was younger, I did add sugar to it. I haven't done that in years though. Now, if I want it to be sweet, I will add in a spoon of honey.
I know a few family members who have been drinking it for a while now and I was shocked to find out that two of them are a lot heavier than they used to be. One doubled in size in just a few years and the other seemed to pack on over 30 pounds since last year. The only thing they changed was drinking more sweet tea. Now I would imagine this stuff contributes to weight gain since it is a lot of sugar but I had no idea it can do this much.
I was thinking about it more and I can honestly say I don't know a single person who drinks the stuff on a regular basis who is not overweight or obese. This stuff has to be so unhealthy for you.
Do you know anyone who drinks sweet tea a lot?
