When do you think electric cars will be the norm?

I think every company at this point has its version of an electric car be it fully electric or a hybrid.

When do you think they will make it the norm and completely stop making gas-powered cars?

I think Biden mentioned something about them wanting this to be changed by 2030. That is just within the US though. I know places like the UK, Australia, and even Canada have had more of a push to go electric than the US.

I heard the same thing about 2020. I think solar power & electric powered things are cool, but I really don't see the average US citizen making the switch until it's financially viable. Electric cars will need to be cheaper than gas-powered for people to really consider it. A high percentage of the country lives paycheck to paycheck and I don't see them building up enough wealth in just 9 years to all switch to a brand new electric car while the technology is still so new & expensive.

Toyota recently pulled electric cars out of the US market after a multi-year push. Aside from tesla, I think they have been losing market share rather than gaining it. To expect that Americans will shift over to electric cars by a certain year sounds to me like out-of-touch elites talking about what they would like to do, not what is feasible for plebeians.

I think electric cars will probably become the norm as more of them are produced in an increasingly efficient manner. Supply creates its own demand, as they say.

Theyll become the norm only because Liberals want them to be.
But Electric cars are nowhere near as environmentally friendly as people think.
The cars arent made in one factory. Most have parts made and put together in multiple countries, meaning a lot of moving around and a lot of travel.
Not to mention the fact that the batteries arent recyclable and sit in landfills.
I dont care if people drive electric cars, but I hate that so many politicians are trying to force gas powered cars to stop production. That's absolute insanity.

That is a solid point and one I always bring up about solar power. There is no way to recycle and safely dispose of solar panels that won't harm us or the environment once the panels are not longer usable. There is a lot of short-term thinking going on without considering long-term consequences.

They're definitely becoming more normal to see around and about, but I still think it will be many decades before they are more prevalent than regular carbon vehicles.

Hello, I'm an electric car. I can't go very fast, or very far, and if you drive me, people will think you're gay!
"It turned out that the ghost was just Mr. Finley, who ran the amusement park. The spooky part is that, as soon as the ghost appeared, the teenagers' dog began to speak! And it spoke in a tortured parody of human speech: 'relp me, Raggy,' it would say. 'I am an abomination and rould re rilled. Rill re, Raggy.'"

This just reminds me of some South Park level humor. Like when they made fun of people in Cali sniffing their own farts and driving around electric cars thinking they were better than everyone else lol
