    Favorite Things General Thread

A few days ago Starwind posted a thread about Lunar: Silver Star Story that took me aback. I've been talking to him on here off and on for a year or so and I never knew we had that in common. With all the political debates, ribbing, complaining, and adult issues we discuss on this forum here's a thread to rapid-fire list some of your favorite things and hopefully find a kindred spirit or introduce new people to stuff you like. Food, film, games, cars, real estate, hypnosis videos, obscure youtubers, skills, trains, whatever. It doesn't matter if the thing you adore is hot garbage, we are going for 100% diversity and inclusion here. Try to start with 5-10.

    In no particular order:

Horror movies/series. I mean the good ones this time, not that guilty-pleasure shit I often subject myself to for cheap laughs (although there are inevitably going to be some turds in here that I like watching anyway for those guilty pleasure reasons). The original Evil Dead trilogy (although that actually turned from horror, to horror-comedy then into comedy-horror) is my favourite bunch in this genre. The TV series (Ash vs Evil Dead) was pretty fuckin' good too!

Beer. There is so much variety in beer when you actually look for it or go to a pub which serves more than mass-produced chemical piss. Doesn't have to have a high ABV to be a good beer either, which is often overlooked (or outright denied by the mongs who drink the aforementioned chemical piss, just to get drunk).

Tanks. I just find them to be fascinating pieces of machinery, and the advances in technology in such a short time from Second World War to Early Cold War is like something out of science fucking fiction.

Resident Evil. I could talk for aeons about this series of games, never mind play them. it's part of the reason I'm into horror-related media in general. Fuck all that live-action SHIT though, Jesus Christ. I'd rather play Survivor again than watch any of those.

Dynasty Warriors. While this has also branched into a genuine interest in Late Han/3K era ancient China (what a fucked-up turn of events that was!), Dynasty Warriors as a series (from 3 - 8 at least) has a lot to answer for when it comes to suddenly realising that six hours have fucking vanished since turning the game on. The old 1v1 fighting game is cack though. Avoid that.

Doom. Of course. This one goes without saying, but I said it anyway.

Burger King. Probably the only junk food that doesn't feel like junk food at all to me. They do the best fries too, fite me irl.
"It turned out that the ghost was just Mr. Finley, who ran the amusement park. The spooky part is that, as soon as the ghost appeared, the teenagers' dog began to speak! And it spoke in a tortured parody of human speech: 'relp me, Raggy,' it would say. 'I am an abomination and rould re rilled. Rill re, Raggy.'"

    Food...

Fast food: KFC, especially the wings.
    Fruit: Watermelon, quite refreshing.
Soda: Fanta Grape, an American treasure.

(I know this reads like a racial stereotype but that's seriously a coincidence.)

Games would include Final Fantasy VIII, Ace Attorney/Phoenix Wright and Halo: Combat Evolved.

Favourite physical activity is swimming. (Or, it was before it became a risk to my life. Maybe I can return in the near future.)

Season: Summer, and second place goes to autumn.

TV show: 24, but I'm quite open to most.

Film: Too many to decide and too many to list. Meh. But I would say I'd usually find a horror late at night. Rather than a gore-fest, I enjoy suspense.

Anime: Ignoring the obvious, it's gotta be Welcome to the NHK.

I'll leave it at that. Done the main ones.

    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I guess I will just list off some things I like/enjoy at random in no order or category and see what happens lol.

Cats and animals in general, the sound of purring and meowing, vegetable fried rice, the smell of autumn air, the fall season, the color blue, Minecraft, a good night's rest/a solid nap, the feeling of being lightly touched or tickled on my back as well as through my hair, ice cold coke, drawing, the sound of a clicking keyboard, cat collectables (I have an adorable cat rice bowl, for example, I got as a gift), and handwriting notes and such over typing or using my phone.

I will resist the urge to type that Christmas song. Lol

Metal Gear Solid 3: Favourite game overall. I love the story, the wacky shit you can do, like create a time paradox, get Major Zero/Tom going on a James Bond rant, and talk about your love of Boxes with the Darpa Chi-I mean Sigint. (He invited Choco Chip Camouflage, ya know).
Not to mention the bosses. The End is such a great boss. Creative, and intense despite being a sniping battle with no music. I've played this game more times than I can count, and I own at least 3 versions of it.

Tales of Vesperia. Favorite RPG (not count Pokemon. That's a genre all its own, imo). I love everything about this game. The characters, the story, the huge variety of things to do, and the combat. AAAAHHH the combat is smooth as peanut butter. You can combo everything together and get a 100 hit combo easily once you get later in the game. Plus, Repede is the best dogo of all time.
I who stand in the full light of the heavens call upon thee who open the gates of Hell. Come forth divine lighting!
    THIS ENDS NOW! INDIGNATION!

Clannad and After Story. Favorite anime overall. The story is spectacular, the way it's told is brilliant, and the characters are great. Akio is such an underappreciated character. He 1000% deserves a "Best Dad" mug.

Shrubs. Favorite TV show. One of the few shows that can have you laughing your ass off, and crying your eyes out in one episode. Favorite episode is still My Last Words.

Futurama. Favorite cartoon. Futurism can get deep and surprisingly philosophical at times. Luck of the Fryish is the best example of that. But it can still be extremely silly and fun, like in The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings (favorite episode, btw. I can recite far too much of this episode lol).

Dr. Pepper used to be my favorite beverage, but I've pretty much stopped drinking it. Now I'd say Gold Peak Slightly Sweet Tea is my favorite. Sweet enough to be tasty without being under unhealthy.

The Usual Suspects. Favorite movie. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And just like that, he was gone.

Might add more later. But that all I can really think of right now.

From a long distance, and tattooed a fairly detailed mouth below and wore clothes the wrong way round he could probably pass as somebody facing forward. Like the Backwards Man on steroids.

    Oh dear, lets see.

Action movies is the big one, particularly the ones from the 80s and 90s. I just love the stunt work, the pyrotechnics and just how organic all the action feels. In an age where most of the big blockbusters are just one CGI slideshow, these movies resonate with me because there's a visceral punch to the action that CG can never replicate no matter how hard it tried.

First person shooters are a big one. Doom is one of the bigger ones but all the classic ones from Rise of The Triad, Blood, Duke Nukem 3d among a bunch others. I loved the fast paced action those games provide and how the levels encourage exploration and finding secrets with items that will make you life so much easier. Console shooters around the PS2 era weren't a slouch either getting great games like Goldeneye, Timesplitters, Black, and Red Faction just to name a few. When Call of Duty came to the scene and reduced first person shooters to be scripted games that don't give you much control, it just went downhill from there.

Army of Darkness-my favorite movie of all time. I love how unapologetically goofy it is with it's cartoonish slapstick and cheesy dialouge. Often times, people talk about camp and silliness in a derogatory fashion like it's a bad thing for a movie to strive for. Army of Darkness doesn't give a shit. It's sheer lunacy from start to finish and I wish more movies embrace camp the way this movie does.

Devil May Cry-After Doom, this is my favorite game franchise. I love how this game is always forcing to better yourself and try to be as stylish as possible. The combat is just so smooth and satisfying. Not to mention, the games are batshit insane with it's action and humorous "WTF" moments but it does so with sincerity and doesn't try to layer it with post-modernist snark. It feels like a souped up beat 'em up game, another genre that I grew up with.

French Fries-I love them. I don't care if they are crinckle cut, thin, thick, or whatever, I can never get enough of these. And yes, I'm one of those pricks that will ask if you're going to finish your fries.

Guns-Nothing is more satisfying then going to a gun range with your buddies and firing off some rounds. I still need to get my permit to carry so I can start finally save up to get my first handgun.

Those were what came to mind at the moment.
