    What do you guys think is the best exercise for building muscle in legs?

    Random question, I know, but I need to strengthen my legs. I noticed over the last few years, I have lost quite a bit of muscle in them and I have a rotatory issue in my hip and a lower back problem. I was recommended to strengthen my legs to work out the problem but I am not sure what to do. Any suggestions? I have a treadmill and walk on an incline but that doesn't seem to be doing much of anything.

    Hiking is a good way to do so. I do try to do it once a week.

    Try cycling or mountain biking it's an effective way of building your quadruceps, hamstring, hips, butt, foot and calf muscles. It's a complete workout for the lower body with emphasis to the legs and thighs.

    The two major exercises drills that I have used to build my legs muscles and strength are squats and lunge exercises. I try to do at least a minimum of 200 squats every day and 50 lunge per leg (100 for both legs). I would suggest that you take active part in both squats and lunge drills, they are definitely going to get you legs in the shape you desire.

    I know that these work, I have seen the results. They are just so boring and depending on your body, it can take time to see results. I am so impatient. Also, I don't think my posture is right when I do them because I end up very sore in my hips and back the next day when I should only feel a "sore burn" pain in my leg muscles.
