The Internet Is Losing It... Over Keanu Reeves

I don't know if anyone else noticed this but since it was announced that he will be in that new Cyberpunk game, people are straight up losing it. The internet is smitten by the man. I see memes, posts, videos, etc. all about him. I very rarely see people hating on him anymore even though I remember him being a joke around the time of the Matrix films. He is kind of like that Brendan Fraser guy. Internet communities large and small don't just see these men as famous people to idolize but as family. It is a very strange phenomenon.

Has anyone else noticed the obsession with Keanu?

Didn't know who he was until someone told me he played Neo in the Matrix. I don't know why that fact translated to the astronomical levels of hype he is receiving so suddenly...were there like millions of closeted Keanu fans I didn't know about or do I just not follow Hollywood closely enough to know that he has been a big deal recently?

I think a lot of it has to do with what's been revealed about him in the recent years. I remember back in the 90s that Keanu Reeves was seen as a bit of a joke. Here's Ted from Bill and Ted trying to act serious! Then a few years ago, word got around that he kind of had a hard life.

And then, he turns out that, despite all of that, he's a real down to earth and a good guy. Now, I'm not one for celebrity worship but hearing the stories about him, it's kind of easy to see why people started to love him. From just sitting down and chilling with a homeless guy, to going out of his way to help a crew member who was having family issues. In an age where a lot of celebrities are self-absorbed dipshits, people find Keanu endearing because he doesn't frown upon the little guy and is willing to be respectful to just about everyone he meets. Sure, he might not be the most gifted actor in the world but at this point, it doesn't really matter if he is, people just find the guy endearing which goes to show that, if you're a good enough guy, people wont sweat the small stuff and love you warts and all.

I recently heard about him losing his child and then losing his girlfriend a week later. You are probably on to something here. Maybe people need a modern-day moral compass in a man to follow so they look to him as he seems to be one of the most down to earth people in spite of his money and fame.
