Back in 2005 before I knew about anime I took a beginner's Japanese class at college. Unfortunately I've forgotten most of it. While it's possible to learn a language over the internet I think the best way is in an actual classroom. I'd suggest seeking local lessons.

    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I'm personally a one-on-one kind of guy. Traveling to language exchanges is great and all but it was hard for me to find someone my level. I'm personally using italki to learn languages and it's quite affordable if you dig through the tutor listings. I'm paying around 4 to 6 usd for a 30 minute session and like 5 to 7 for an hour. What kinds of things have you already learned in the Japanese language?

I know nothing of the language but if people compile their resources here, I would be happy to attempt to learn as well.

I have always wanted to know different languages, I never just say down and learned them. I think learning from videos could be helpful.

That's interesting. What made you choose Japanese in particular? I hope you get a hot Japanese teacher like I did.

Basically, to widen my video games possibilities because there are so much japan-only games i want to play.
I hope too, even if it doesn't matter because i focus on the class. Even if asians are my thing...

This actually sounds a little bit funny but I think it's a nice idea, as it would help us understand Japanese culture because I believe that in the cause of trying to learn their language, we would also be learning their culture. It goes both ways, you can't choose one and leave the other.

Though as of yet I don't know any Japanese language but I have seen or heard quite a lot of its speaking in movies. I would be honest with you, the language really sounded different to spend from how I heard it used. I simply hope it is not that difficult as it sounded to my ears when I heard it in the movie.

The only thing I can say about Japanese is their love for sword tradition. They seem to be rooted in swordsmanship, as even kids right from their little age are trained in the course of learning sword practice and it's usage. Learning more about them seems to be a very good idea, I am all in.

Nihongo wa shūtoku ga yōide, nihon'noanime o mireba ōku no koto o oboete imasu.
It means...japanese language is easy to learn, just watch japanese anime and you will memorize a lot of words.

I only recently started watching subbed versions and I feel overwhelmed. Is there a simple anime you can recommend to learn from?
