Thread: What do you love/hate about summer?

Since it is pretty much here (though not officially until the 21st) I thought this could be something to talk about.

I haven't been a fan of hot weather in many years. I can somewhat handle it now but I would much rather be in AC. So for me, the hear is one of the things I am not a fan of, not entirely anyways. I love the sunshine and being able to swim. But the bugs... I do not miss them in the fall and winter. Not one bit! It is funny too because I love having bonfires but when the weather is best for it (summer) I don't do many of them because of the darn bugs.

The worst thing about summer has to be all the bugs that come out during the season. I especially hate all the mosquitoes and constantly buying bugs spray.

Yeah I am not a fan of bugs at all. Probably why fall and winter are my preferred seasons lol

I mean spring tends to be worse than summer since the bugs are just coming out and it is humid but summer nights just bring out the worst insects there are.

The goddamn heat is unbearable. Especially when you live in a small room with everything shut like me DX. Nothing like trying to sleep while feeling like you're in a furnace.
I've bought an AC, but it rakes up power bills, so gotta be sparing with it.


The bugs are definitely up there too, especially flies. Can't stand the noise of those things, especially when a huge one flies in that you can hear from across the room.

I know that feeling too well. When I was little, I had the smallest room in the house with no a/c. When you combine the summer heat with all the electronics that I had in my room, well, let's just say that there was some sleepless nights thanks to that.

The big thing I love about summer is that I can go outdoors more often. I like walking by the lake as it calms me and helps me think about things more clearly. Also, there's a nature trail not too far where I live and I like to go walking through there when I get the chance.

Summer is one of the main things I look forward to every year. Finally, a time when I get to see some beautiful skies in Britain! Still, even now it's often overcast. It's generally more enjoyable to go out and about at this time of year. Also, a far reduced power (or gas) bill is always a good thing since you obviously never need the heat.

Downsides would probably start with the sticky humidity. If you have a pet this can get annoying. The problem I have is avoiding getting my cat's black hairs on my hands. He's always moulting so I often find his hairs on me without even touching him. I got these grooming gloves to help deal with this and I'll need to get them out of storage again.

Heat's a problem. Although I welcome hot weather and hate cold weather, I never said I'm a fan of humidity. It wouldn't be a problem if I had air conditioning. I don't have any in my apartment and I can't see my landlord agreeing to getting one. Sometimes it's like living in a microwave. As expressed above, yes, bugs are a problem. More than anything else I've got ladybirds lately, or ladybugs to those across the pond.

Don't get me started on flies.

I like summer, for all the nature stuff... but I cannot stand the heat, it's been around 23°c, that's 73.4°f for you people who use the wrong measurements! That's why I love winter, and snow!
