Paranormal Experiences / Unexplained Events in Your Life

As the title says, I want to hear about anything paranormal you may have experienced. Eerie unexplained events count too.
I've got several, the majority of which occurred when I was a kid or in my early teens so alcohol/drugs weren't (and still aren't) a factor.
    1. When I was 6, my parents told me that I was allowed to dig in a certain portion of our yard on the side of the house. My best friend would come over every day after school and we would dig with garden trowels to clear space for a "secret hideout". He was to my left, I turned to speak to him and saw a spiky black ball about 2.5 feet off the ground floating. It looked like a basketball-sized black sea urchin. My friend saw my eyes go wide and he looked as well. It floated past him, then past me and through my fence without breaking form whatsoever. It turned around the corner of the house and I never saw it again. Thankfully, I was a clever enough kid to ask my friend what he saw first so he wouldn't just agree with me in his panic. He described the same thing I had seen (it was close enough to us to reach out and touch). I almost wish I hadn't asked him first, because now I can't write this off as my imagination.

    2. While visiting my great-grandparents when I was 8, I woke up in the morning (broad-ass daylight) to see a woman in what I thought was a wedding dress floating a foot or so off the ground, watching me. Told my mom ('you were dreaming', etc...). Told my dad about it when I was 22, and he explained that my great-grandparents used to rent that room from the 50's - 80's. Their most infamous tenant was a woman who matched the apparition's appearance, would only leave the room from 2am-4am, had hollowed out her mattress and filled it with salt as well as put a ring of salt on the floor to protect herself from "them". She disappeared randomly one night, leaving the door to the outside wide open. Within a week, a man came to inquire about a room for rent, despite that woman having lived there for years and thus my great-grandparents hadn't advertised that a room was available for years and years. The guy wore gloves 24/7 and only touched things while holding a napkin/tissue to pick them up with. How he knew about the vacancy and why they rented to such a freak, I'll never know.

    3. Last one for now, and the last major one I personally have but my fiance has one or two I could share if anyone cares. I was home along with my girlfriend in my freshman year of college, we were at my parents' place. My mom was supposed to be home any moment with dinner. We heard the garage door open and close, then footsteps in the kitchen below us. Next, my mom's voice called up to me, and I KNOW I wasn't hearing things because my gf answered before I could "be right down" or something similar. We both go down and...wtf...nobody there. I checked the garage and there are no cars. None on the driveway or parked on the street, so it's not a prank. So we call my mom and we can hear that she is still at the restaurant ordering. We go to the basement and wait it out, about 15 mins later hearing the garage door again, footsteps above us in the kitchen and my name called again. Again, gf answers before me and we go upstairs, relieved that she is finally home. Nobody. We waited on the curb until her car pulled up after that.

Anyone got any? I can go for a shorter Round 2 if anyone is interested at a later date.

Those are all seriously weird. I could not guess at any explanation for the first two. As for the third, originally, I thought that maybe a television downstairs had been left on and you might have mistakenly thought the sounds were the garage/your mother talking (and then the TV shut off like they do to save power) but when you said it happened twice I ruled out that possibility.

Maybe you're destined to become some kind of spirit medium... in training.

I have experienced a few things but nothing like that. That is pretty wild.

I do know someone who was dating a woman that used to wake up in her sleep but not actually be awake and she would start talking in a weird language. When it first happened he thought it was a joke and laughed but the second time it freaked him out and he woke her up and she started screaming and punched him in the face. She didn't know what was going on. I guess she wet the bed a few times too. I don't remember when it stopped or even how they got it to stop but this went on for a few weeks.

Yeah, it's some pretty weird stuff and I have no clue how to explain any of mine away. I don't have any mental illnesses, and even if I did, these events are each years apart. I find it hard to believe that I'd have something so dormant that it occurs only once per 6-ish years AND other people experience it with me. Very small odds indeed.
As for my fiance's stuff...I'll go ahead and say ahead of time that it may be a result of work-related exhaustion as one possible explanation. She is a banker at the #1 Japanese bank headquarters in Tokyo and her hours are long to say the least. Some years ago before we met, she went into her office and a woman came over to her desk who wasn't in their office's work attire. My gf's desk is immediately next to her supervisor. My gf asks this strange woman if she needs any help or is lost/on the wrong floor/ etc. only THEN noticing that this woman is missing from the waist down,as if she was cropped in Windows Paint or something. Just hovering. My fiance's supervisor then whispered to her not to give the woman any attention and to look away. The woman floated away at some point down the hall and wasn't seen again. As you may already know, suicide by train is quite common in Japan. After work, the supervisor explained that his train killed someone that morning, she was cut in half.

Another one that reminds me of Korin's is quite recent. I'm a heavy night-owl so I usually go to sleep between 3am-5am, but my gf has normal work hours and goes to bed at 10pm-midnight. I was still awake, watching YouTube on my phone in bed when my gf suddenly took a deep gasp and sat up. She told me that the brown ghost/brown man (please note that English isn't her first language, she doesn't mean a black guy, haha. She means dull/dark in this context) was back, above the bed. She was acting as if I could see it too...but she didn't seem so scared. She told me this has happened occasionally for all 7 years she has lived in this apartment. Since then, she won't discuss it any further. It may be one of those things where a dream continues into her being awake, but she went back to sleep after telling me that a ghost is above the bed, needless to say it was a bad night for me. Side note, she is also militant about closing the door to our room at night. She says 'the ghost will get back in'. She is 100% normal outside of this, never discussing paranormal stuff, and will NOT elaborate further on these occurrences. I'm at a loss, but it makes sleeping difficult from time to time.

Does anybody have more to share? I'd love to read them, even if they are from a friend/family member of yours.

Damn! That's creepy mate. I have some paranormal experiences of my own but it's nothing like what you had experienced, yours is too wired and it actually started pretty early in your life when you were younger.

The major paranormal experience that I have experienced would be considered as a spiritual attack when I was about completing my undergraduate studies. I went for a one year professional program and one night after lectures as I was going to the hostel, I felt like something hugged and covered me up. I stargared and almost fell down but managed to maintain my balance. I felt a very cold chill down my spine and managed to get to the hostel. My temperature went over the roof immediately and it was around 1:00 am with no where to go and the clinic was closed. I had to self medicate that very night and manged to pray a little before I later slept off.

Those are some scary stuff. I too have some real life stories about the paranormal. It was 2007 and i got to talk to our neighbor who was renting out rooms to single working ladies and he ask me if I ever saw a young girl about 10 years old playing at his yard and I told him that I haven't seen any. I ask him who's the girl and he didn't answer then one time about 8 pm I while I was walking my dog near his fence I heard a girl giggling and took a look and saw a girl playing with a ball just for about a second then she ran off. After a week I got a chance to talk to my neighbor and told him what I saw and he told me that the girl is gone now. It seems one of his new lady boarders had a sister who got killed in a vehicular accident and eversince that time, the dead sister's ghost follows her where ever she goes. And since the other boarders are getting scared he had to let the lady boarder go and had his place blessed by a priest.

That's...pretty bizarre. Don't know what to make of that, have you heard any more since then?

When I was about eight years old, I experienced what I think may have been a paranormal phenomenon. Though, it was rather short-lived.
Funny thing is that this sort of thing interests me... a lot. But it's the only time I ever truly felt like I was witnessing something like that.
If I had the money to go traveling around the world, investigating weird places(including those that are said to be haunted), I'd be doing just that. (I'd be taking a friend with me, though... never do these sorts of things alone.)

But anyway: When I was eight years old, I was watching The Exorcist with my dad. It was the first time I watched anything like it, and it did disturb me somewhat.
At the time, we lived on the third floor of a condominium complex, with neighboring condos on either side of ours.
After taking a shower, I stepped into my room, and some object flew across the outside of the window facing me. I turned to the other window, from which I could see the roof of our neighbors.
There, I saw a shadowy figure. It seemed mechanical in nature, with multiple legs, and it walked silently atop our neighbors' roof. It looked kinda like a cross between a lizard and one of those imperial probe droids from Star Wars.
I stared at it for a moment, in the darkness of my room, trying to figure out what the heck it was, when it turned and looked directly at me. That's when I freaked out and ran to my dad, who was still awake.

Then, you can expect how the rest of the story went about. The usual "it was the scary movie/imagining it".

It's possible that I was, but there's no way to prove it. Nevertheless, it's something I don't think I'll ever forget

Truth be told, I don't think I've ever experienced a "paranormal" event. Granted, I have been creeped out or unnerved by stuff like the dark, or odd noises, or stories by Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft, but I've never "seen" a ghost or any other kind of weird creature. And I don't think ghosts are real or anything like that. I think that it's mostly the subconscious and the senses mixing things that we've experienced and seen and causing them to become unfamiliar and strange. As G.K. Chesterton said, "The purpose of the imagination is not to make strange things settled, but to make settled things strange."
A boy has the right to dream. There are endless possibilities stretched out before him....

I think that's a large part of what makes this kind of thing so terrifying if/when it does happen. It gets particularly worse the older you are as well. I was lucky enough to experience the majority of these events when I was less than 10 years old. If I made it into my mid-20's like today or beyond in addition to my skeptical nature and then saw the things I did back then, I don't know how I'd make sense of life anymore. Even having seen what I did, I take others' experiences with a grain of salt as they should with mine as well, so I get where you're coming from. I just wish I could take you or someone with a similar approach and allow them to see my memory of what happened, but the un-proveable nature of these things is why we are even here discussing them in the first place I suppose.
