Are people gaining weight from the quarantine?

I see a lot of people making jokes online about it but I am curious if people actually are. I have managed to lose some weight but this is more a less down to eating less and deep breathing along with managing stress. I am thinking that if anyone is gaining wait, it is likely people who are used to moving around a lot at work and those who were not able to go to the gym like normal. I know my father gained some weight. He works in a restaurant and went from being on his feet all day to sitting at his computer all day.

Did you gain any weight or notice anyone else who has?

Well they certainly aren't losing it unless they have a high shortage of food. Maybe I've lost some weight because of the pandemic but it's hard to say. A reason why I might have lost some: far fewer takeaways. I've had a bad habit of ordering takeaways more often than I should in the past. I felt unable to trust that my locals had followed all the necessary procedures to ensure I'd be getting the food safely. While I wouldn't be the first to recommend Domino's, I did see that they were taking good steps for safety. They even use an extra pizza box now to stack others on, lol. So I have ordered a few Domino's but I'm trying to avoid that because not getting those bar a few Domino's in the past few months has probably helped my health.

On the flip side, however, not having takeaways isn't necessarily better than having them. That's because the best-quality food that I'd cook at home hasn't been available, such as my local butcher being closed for now and the unavailability of a lot of (good) meat and various fresh vegetables. So my home-cooked diet has now often consisted of tinned and frozen ready meals. Downgrading my dietary choices has undoubtedly saved me money but it's also counterbalanced the health benefits from not ordering takeaways. As for exercise, I'm a sedentary person so I can't speak of the effects of lockdown there, but I can see how not being able to fulfil what was a regimen could stunt health maintenance.

I notice that it's often the people who kick up the biggest fuss about lockdown preventing exercise who don't really do things like walking to parks anyway.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

This seems to be the case for most topics really. People who make a fuss about things have other options, often healthier or better options but refuse to explore them or at the very least give them a chance. I guess for some people, it is easier to complain online and nag their friend's ear off. If I had been a gym-goer, I would have just either walked outdoors or used my treadmill. It isn't that hard to compensate. Though I guess for a guy it might be harder because of the lack of weights... I guess you can always go to the store and hoard 50 gallons of milk for God only knows what reason to get a workout in. LOL

(That legit was happening, people were hoarding milk... like, why?)
