Thread: How are you planning on spending the holidays this year?

With all the restrictions that have happened because of the virus, a lot of places around the world seem to be canceling Christmas already... Or at least heavily restricting it. Advising people not to travel and no more than 3 different households come together. What a mess.

How will you be celebrating this year? Are your plans going to have to change because of these restrictions?

It was quite recently announced that here in England we'll get a couple of days to spend with family at Christmas. To be honest, while I don't like to put a damper on these things we're far from out of the woods with regard to COVID, so I hope there won't be significant repercussions from it. Having said that, I'm still wondering whether to see family. If I actually do see family I'd be spending a day or two at my parents' house. If not, it'll just be spent at home. It wouldn't bother me that much since I'm already very used to having little to no contact with family this year.

I'm not much of a traveler, so I will spend Christmas at home with my closest family. Already bought the gifts, and I'm pondering as to whether or not should I rewatch everybody’s favourite show for the third time this year.

I will be doing a small, quiet thing with a few family members as well but this tends to be the case anyway since both my grandparents died. Extended family doesn't get together anymore. Half the time my immediate family can't even be bothered. Even though there have been times I have wanted to just not do Christmas, because it is already such a small thing, I can't use the virus as an excuse...

I'm hosting a huge party (200+ already RSVP'd, but it's open to the public so I expect plenty more). We're going to play some party games such as "Lick the Doorknob" and "Sharing Straws". I assume that I'll be pretty wasted by 2am or so, maybe I'll find a cutie and cough into her mouth (with consent).

Okay but actually though...small Christmas gathering with family. 9 people. We've done lockdowns, masks, social distancing and the numbers are sky high. I'm not skipping Christmas with my family.

My family is fretting over the whole covid thing, especially since my brother welcomed another child into this world and they don't want to risk the child getting infected so they are just gonna drop by with some food and presents. Frankly, I'd rather just hang out with Mom and Dad but they're putting their foot down on this.

Will be spending it with my wife and the in-laws, they just live across the street and my wife works for the family company so we are fortunate to all be in the same bubble anyway.

My nan usually has the whole family round back home with many people, so it's going to be very strange for her this year.
