    You read books?

Anyone here read books? What's your favourite book? I don't usually read but I've made it my goal to read every book here - http://www.reddit.com/r/raerth/comments/cpxkq/reddits_favourite_books/ by July 2013, probably not doable hehe. I've been reading American Psycho which is quite disturbing to say but it's been quite a good read.

Essential reading for any UK resident.
"It turned out that the ghost was just Mr. Finley, who ran the amusement park. The spooky part is that, as soon as the ghost appeared, the teenagers' dog began to speak! And it spoke in a tortured parody of human speech: 'relp me, Raggy,' it would say. 'I am an abomination and rould re rilled. Rill re, Raggy.'"

If you've seen the movie, then read the book. It's even better.

    RE: You read books?

Do I read books? Well, the simple answer would be yes. The real question would be, "How long do you read books for?" Because as far as books go, I have an absolutely crap attention span. That's probably partially due to the fact that over the past decade or so I've rarely read fiction, and usually I read more academic books. Recently I got a lot of game design, piano/keyboard and drawing books. How many have I completed? Probably none. Sometimes I get far but end up moving onto something else. If I had the ability to properly prioritise and focus on one main thing at a time, I'd probably be a pro at a good few things by now.

I do get the occasional comedy book, and I'm interested in Baron's suggestion. I'll have to create a small list of my more recent books, but a word of warning is that most of them wouldn't be considered interesting to a lot of people. Sometimes to stay more focused I read books before I sleep in bed, since it usually takes an hour before I feel even slightly sleepy anyway if I go to bed at a reasonable time. But I've found that in the morning I've usually forgotten most of what I read anyway.

Edit: Trainspotting... wasn't that a film about junkies? I'd consider reading it since it was a good film, but probably wouldn't be my first choice to delve back into fiction.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I'd like to read George Martin's GoT series as I loved the TV adaptation.

Aside from that, I don't read books too often, just magazines although I may re-read The Catcher In The Rye again, amazing how some of the content of that book still holds up today. Fairly well-known book here in the states as well, not sure about the UK although I imagine it should still appeal as the main topic should still be applicable assuming you understand it.

Is the book series - Game of thrones really good? I may read this after I finish my to-read pile. I've stopped reading American Psycho for a bit (quite a long book - almost 400 pages) to read A clockwork orange which seems alright so far but I always got to refer to a dictionary as the author writes in English and his created slang language - Nadsat.

    RE: You read books?

I wanted to read the Game of Thrones stuff for a bit.
However, a guy I know who has read them said it was pretty much a depression fest unfortunately.
So I believe I will be sticking with the show for now...
    Until I am brave enough.
