Thread: Do You Have Any Regrets?

Weird topic for me to start, considering my answer is "no".

I've made mistakes, done/said things despite advice to the contary and just straight-up screamed straight into situations I don't understand without thinking about the overall picture, but in the grand scheme of things I can't say I truly regret any of it.

Oh boy, where do I begin?

A lot of it is from my adolescence. God almighty, I was a sperg. From not knowing when to shut up, bitching on school movie day that the movie we're gonna see isn't going to filled with violence and titties, acting like a rabid fanboy on internet message boards just to name a few. The problem with that is my brain likes to bring up some of these past events when I don't want it to and every time that happens, I want to throw myself out of the window. I screwed up my first relationship too, which brought about a huge amount of guilt. I went into a relationship without truly understanding what the meant at the time and it just fell apart from there. Lastly, I regret not researching what career choice I wanted to go to college for. I ultimately got a degree that got me a job where the pay was absolute shit, making my time in college for nothing.

So yeah, a lot of it comes from learning life lessons the hard way.

I would say in order to have regrets is to admit you learned nothing or little from your experiences. I guess I look at this differently.

I have things I would have liked to do differently but in the grand scheme of things, it would have altered where I am now and I fear I may have missed out on some things I truly am grateful for today.

During my adolescence I didn't really know any better. I wasn't a popular kid, but things could have been a lot worse. I had a few friends but for the most part I blended into the sidelines. If I actually went to a reunion, I bet only a handful of students would have an inkling of who I am. Things weren't much different in college. I had a few girlfriends. I guess I didn't do so badly there as they're quite hot. Hell, I don't know what they saw in me.

I suppose I regret not being nicer to them. But then again, I'd wager that I'm not the only person who was nonchalant and sometimes edgy before adulthood. I was also a complete dork online. Objectively speaking, over the past ten years or so I don't think there's been much to regret. You use social media and you see others boasting about all the great things they're doing. Those same people never (or rarely) post about the shit they've gone through, etc. What I'm trying to say is that even if you haven't done X or Y thing some other person's done, they've probably thought the same thing. Everybody is ten rungs below someone else.

Not a regret, but I kinda wish I could still get drunk while writing stupid posts like this.

Hmmmmmm, as for the first legal ones that come to mind, I would have to say being such an edgelord when I was younger? I had my hair dyed black when I was 16 but I passed it off as part of a Halloween costume so there was a little less cringe due to people hopefully buying that excuse. I don't have massive regrets, but rather concentrated periods of cringe, since I'm rather happy with where my life is at. I somewhat regret not dating around more when I was in Japan because I was surprisingly popular, but if I hadn't settled down with someone then I couldn't have stayed there for as long as I did anyway. I dated like 3 or 4 before I met my waifu, but that should have been like 30-40.

Unrelated, but a regret nonetheless: there was a brothel in Osaka I went to with my bros that had an 11/10 college girl in a Kiki's Delivery Service cosplay that I should have boned. $120 for 10 minutes and my friends were egging me on but I passed that time and I still HEAVILY regret it. I realize this is skirting the NSFW line for the forum but Gene does this in Episode 1 so it's on-topic.

I don't read much anymore so my reading speed has gone waaaaaay down.

I used to be 2nd on YouTube for Majora's Mask videos (my favorite game aside from Final Fantasy VIII). I got busy with school & other hobbies, but if I had stuck with it I think i'd have a pretty successful channel these days. I made a ton of Zelda videos and people still comment/DM me on other sites asking me to continue them but I have no motivation to record Let's Plays alone in my game room anymore. It's really cringe when my wife walks in and looks at me like a giant manchild.

This is a bit tough for me as there isn't anyone in my past I was a real asshole to or any huge financial mistakes I wish I could take back. I guess I should have tried harder in college, but my GPA wasn't really bad for my field anyway. I just think back and I know I could have done a lot better if I had given up more time with friends or family...but...would that have been better? I wound up with a job I love, so it's not like I missed out in the long-run but it's just a bit embarrassing since I'm considered "the smart one" amongst my family and my social circles. A lot of smart people tend to be disorganized or do poorly in school surprisingly. I maintained a 3.9 GPA in Grad School though, so that's what employers see anyway. That's enough punishment for now, bye y'all.

It's your man cave. She shouldn't be entering in the first place. Since you're doing the heavy lifting (from what you tell me, it sounds like a damn lot) she should respect what you do, IMO. Be that Zelda or sports.

Im not a big fan of prostitution or one night stands, so I personally wouldnt call you out for it?

But its not like I have a damn time machine in my backyard.

Hahaha, I didn't expect people to take that so literally. It's not a man cave, just a game room. I pay the bills so I don't need to confine my hobbies and interests to one room, it's really more annoying than anything when she needs something but I'm in the middle of recording something. The extra editing that creates is more than I'm willing to handle. She does come in the room at some really bad times though like when I'm playing FF X-2 or watching gravure model photoshoots lmao.

She respects my hobbies, just not when she needs my help with something or the dog needs to be walked. When recording an LP, that shock back to reality when your wife is behind you nagging for you to do something (that you promised to do) just gives me so much cringe somehow.
