What are you having trouble finding right now?

Because of people hoarding and over-buying, a lot of other people are unable to shop like normal.

I don't drive so I rely on getting a lot of stuff online and I can't find 90% of what I normally buy online anywhere. I am talking about things like garbage bags, toilet paper, soap, snacks/pantry supplies, cat food, etc. and it is really frustrating. They want people to stay home which I have no issue with but how do they expect people to get what they need if nowhere online has stock or local shops are always selling out?

My husband can't even get his license right now because they closed everything (he immigrated here and had to wait for his green card to get his license). So we have to rely on family to drive him to stores to get us stuff.

I also buy jugs of water and every time the stock comes in, it sells out the same day so my husband hasn't been able to get me water. He was able to find bottles in another brand but I have been drinking the same spring water for years so other water just doesn't taste good to me.

Are you having trouble finding any of your usual shopping items?

Flour, water bottles, TP, diapers, vegetable oil, and meat are sold out in my area. Not that I need all of those things, but that's what I noticed when I last went to the store. My best friend is a butcher so I've been able to have him take a look at what comes in on their restocking day and have him set some aside for us before their (limited) stock goes out on display for regular buyers.

They usually place orders every week, but now they are just receiving shipments of whatever they're able to get. It's a mystery to them when the truck comes what meat will be inside. The companies who provide meat to butchers and grocery stores in the US are so swamped right now that they can't promise particular orders to anyone. He heard through the grapevine that this is mostly because of restaurants and stores in the big cities (particularly NYC) placing 50x size orders to get out ahead of the shortage...thus causing a shortage. Screw NYC.

The majority of items are unavailable on Prime Now which has its Amazon warehouse in Manchester as well as a supermarket that Amazon partnered with. Although there are lots of items in the supermarket selection, half of them don't reach you! Whereas if you go for the warehouse, the selection isn't too large but you'll almost certainly get your full order.

I've been able to order most things, but after Boris's recent announcement of a full lockdown I think things have got worse for now. At least in the worst case scenario I've still got my sizeable supply of non-perishable food. I froze a couple of loaves of bread. It's a good trick. You can make bread last for months if you're fine with toasting it.

I had trouble finding a lot of meat. There's some chicken and pork chops (if you're lucky enough to find them in stock) but little else. Surprisingly, toilet paper was in stock, last I checked. I've got a jar full of bottle caps I collected over the years but I should have just stocked up on TP.

It seems that not a great deal of people are subscribed to Amazon Prime which puts us subscribers at an advantage here. The majority of supermarket sites have no slots available. It's a matter of waiting and repeatedly trying to find a slot, or preparing for the mortal combat from going to one.
