Have you ever won a contest of any kind?

I don't think I asked this here if I have, my apologies. I spend quite a bit of time on several different forums. lol

Anyways, have you ever won a contest of any kind be it something you had to physically enter or something simple like calling into a radio station to win tickets to an event?

I have entered a number of things over the years and I never won anything. For the longest time, I thought I was just a very unlucky person. I don't really believe in luck anymore, everything is just left to chance and/or blessings, at least that is the way I see it now.

Yeah, I won a raffle for like $50 at a bagel/sandwich shop in my college town. Ate ludicrous breakfasts there each day the next week until the card was used up. Other than that, I have been in the newspaper several times as a kid by chance. The newspaper folks were visiting the dentist one day when I was there, the mall on another day when I went to see the Easter Bunny, and I think I got in the paper with Santa once as well. That's not really a contest, but it feels like one.

I haven't called into a radio station but I've been on the radio 3 times.

    Nothing life-changing.

Now that I think about, I don't think that I've ever won any sort of contest that I had no level of control over. All that call-in shit, or raffles?

Big fat fucking zero on those.

I used to buy Wizard magazine back in the day and took part in a Mars Attacks! contest that they were running. Basically they wanted you to write into them what local thing you wanted the martians to blow up. I manage to win second place and got some Mars Attacks! comics and trading cards out of the deal.

I actually know someone who wins calling into local radio stations all the time and has for the last like 30 years. I don't know how but she manages to win several times throughout the year. Either she has a secret calling system or she is using witchcraft lol

Wait hold the fuck up I did win something once, albeit something not really left to chance. I won a pub quiz some 13 years ago when I was just out getting drunk and joined some random team.

Couldn't decide who should have the prize so...

...the fairest way to decide! Best of nine rounds.

Practically read the guy's mind after round two and played him like a fiddle by using his previously played hand all the way. The prize was only a big bottle of wine and a free meal but whatever.

tl;dr random guy joins team, takes prize and is never seen again.

I didn't win it, but i got third at a middle-school English language national contest. Sounds impressing but it pretty much was a joke. I won some steel brain teasers as a prize.
Other than that, a few victories at a local litterature festival's bingo in my childhood town and at the grade school's annual lottery.
    Never overestimate mankind.
