What would you say is your best/worst characteristic?

In terms of who you are and how you act, what would you say is your best/worst characteristic?

I feel for some of us, the case me be the best and the worst. For me, I think it is my ability to forgive. The problem with this though, since I am so easy to forgive people, I allow them to take advantage of me. It happens to me a lot, specially in my family. They can say/do something mean or hurtful and within hours or at most a day or two, I act like nothing even happened. I feel there is an up side but a down side to being forgiving like this.

I think what's best and at the same time worst characteristic that I have is being friendly. I tend to gather friends in short period of time and treat them as family even if we just met. Maybe it's because how my high school friends treated each other back in the days, we were like brothers. The reason I said it's also the worst, most of the time, people take advantage of that. I have no problem if a new found friend asks for help like money since I treat them as family. But after getting what they need, they vanish.

Good thread idea, and I know what you both mean about forgiveness and taking advantage of friendships, etc.

Perhaps my best characteristic is my leadership ability and alongside that my consideration towards what is right or wrong. I think being considerate is a characteristic important to the responsibilities of any leader. You need to be able to judge multiple viewpoints. In real life I've broken up fights before and I try to see both sides to a story, often playing the devil's advocate if I'm already biased in some way, but most of all I want things to remain civil. Saying that though I'm usually a very laid-back guy. I just try to handle things correctly when the situation arises.

Now, the worst one is very likely my perfectionism. I grew up often segregated from my peers and my parents rarely paid attention to my work or bonded with me. So I regularly tried my hardest to make something people would like. If that was thrown back in my face I often took offence and started taking things a little too personally. Contrary to the usual belief perfectionists are often very flawed. I'm all-or-nothing about many things in life. I've backed out of so many things because I've feared failure. It can also make leadership more difficult when you're always wondering whether you've done something right or not. It's crippling but it's simply how I developed as a child. Things can burn me out quickly so I sometimes need my alone time. I'm trying hard to overcome it all lately and keep on track with my own pursuits.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I have parts of my life where being a perfectionist rise up and I know exactly what you mean. I do it more a less with people pleasing. I will try to do something to a point where I am not even happy and the outcome I am looking for is someone to appreciate me. I grew up being asked what was wrong with me and never doing anything good enough so I think that is where my issues come from with that.

My best quality is probably my kindness. I have gotten into heated arguments and so on, so forth, but I'm always very considerate and put the other person first.
It hasn't always worked out the best for me (people take advantage of that) but I think it's worth continuing to act that way on principle.

My worst quality is my laziness. I procrastinate all the time and even though being unproductive drives me nuts, I just never seem to get around to being productive.
So I just get pent up and annoyed at myself.

Oh, I can relate to that perfectionist streak, but I think my worst thing is actually being too outspoken. While that can sometimes be a good thing, I often find that it is not, especially in a world where people seem to try their hardest to get offended over everything. I don't go out of my way to offend people. In fact, the opposite is true. At the same time, I'm not going to say what people want to hear instead of what I really think and feel.

I think the best attribute I have is creativity. I consider it to be a huge blessing. I can look at something ordinary, and see all kinds of things that it could be used for or made into, stuff like that. I find inspiration everywhere and always want to create things or do some kind of craft or art.

I will say my best characteristics is persistence. Throughout my childhood days, my environment and peer group relationships, I was taught and learnt that things don't comes that easy to people that give up too easily in life. As a result of this sole act, I rarely give up on things or something I determine to achieve.

On the other hand, we all have our down side, anyone who says he/she doesn't have any, that makes the person a liar which is also a bad characteristics of such person. My bad side is ability to switch off on person who takes pleasure in hurting me. I will give you all the chance to stop but the moment I am fed up, if you come back to apologize, I won't give a listening ear.

My best characteristic ? I usually need people to tell for me because i don't really know what kind of good side i have.

My worst is that i am a stubborn and pernickety as hell.
It's not that i won't get over it, it's just that i'll never shut up about it.
That and doing wordplay 24/7 making my friends want to pun(ch) me.
    Never overestimate mankind.

My best characteristic is my responsibility. I do my best to owe up to my mistakes and if someone does something for me I try to pay them back if they wish. I can feel like I'm freeloading if I don't do something for them in return.

I know this has already been said, but being lazy is my biggest flaw. I can be a real slacker, putting things off at the last minute and not doing my chores because I come back exhausted from work.

My best characteristic would be my bravery. I was not always able to stand up for myself. That's what you get for being raised in a household where the cane was the only cure for childish behaviour. Eventually I grew up to be a very angry person. The anger grew to be a very great motivator and now I don't think I fear anything. Like all good things though, the anger came with its own shortcomings. I lost my ability to forgive people. Now I just forget.
