Gotta agree. I was in high school at the time and It was an instant hit for me the day it premiered on Toonami. There weren't any stores that sold a lot of anime at the time where I lived, so I recorded every single episode on VHS. Then one day at the mall, I came across a collection of DVDs of it at a GameStop (or what used to be Babbages) and bought all six of them off the bat.

    Like all, Toonami.

Can't really remember the show listings, but I know Samurai Jack was before it! It's was a sort of leading; watched [something?], which showed me Mr. Jack - got into that. After Samurai Jack finished, I saw the intro to Outlaw Star... Boom! Loved it!

I was like... 8 i think. I was watching Toonami with my older sister and Tom made a promo about it. ( Best times for Cartoon Network.) I watched every episode and was hooked.

I wish I could be a part of that "all" group. Honestly, I wish I'd have discovered Outlaw Star back in the days of Toonami, because it sounds to me like there was plenty of other cool anime on that channel!

RE: Obligatory "How did you come about Outlaw Star?"

Going slightly off-topic, but Toonami was this pretty cool Cartoon Block they had on Cartoon Network that started airing in 1997. They started off with some Old-School shows at first like Thundercats, Voltron, and a few 15-minute segments called "Cartoon Roulette." That segment played episodes of very old superhero cartoon episodes like 1940's Superman, Space Ghost and Birdman. Eventually it developed into a mixture of american action cartoons and anime.

This was what was all aired. I kind of dropped it from when they started showing Mobile Suit Gundam: 08th MS Team, because perhaps I was starting to grow out of it, or started to lose interest after Outlaw Star's prime on Toonami. It had some serious style going on in the first five years of its run, though.

They had this sweet soundtrack they released that they used for it produced by Joe Boyd Vigil, and he made these neat Drum n' Bass tunes that go with the show openings- For Outlaw Star he used bits and pieces of the Outlaw Star OST ("Loneliness" and "Suzuka") and laid them on top of a Drum n' Bass beat. You can find the tunes somewhere on Youtube or wherever you get your music from, but the CD is out of print. Here's a promo of Outlaw Star they did:

Sounds like a pretty good lists of series. As for the remix, I'm aware of it. It's from a Toonami album called Deep Space Bass. It's a half-decent remix. Not my favourite in the world, but it's alright. I find it interesting how the promo refers to the Outlaw Star as a living starship.

I came about watching Outlaw Star at the age of 5 watching the Midnight Run on Toonami with my family and it just stuck with me.

I found it in an interesting manner... Have any of you ever seen a youtube movie by Saberie? Well, mostly it has to do with OnePiece, which my sister was watching at the time, and the movies were funny, so she shared them with me. However, there was one character who kept on appearing time and again, despite not being in the OnePiece universe; a certain brown catgirl. I asked Saberie where the character was from, and learned it was from a little known anime called "Outlaw Star". The rest, as they say, is history.

RE: Obligatory "How did you come about Outlaw Star?"

Oh man, Toonami started it all and amazingly, I sought to watch the show by myself!

I remember when I used to get home from school around the age of 10 and I watched Toonami. At first, I started watching because back before Toonami, my older sisters got me into watching Thunder Cats when I was like...3-4 years old. So when Toonami hit Cartoon Network, I immediately stuck to watching that segment each day after school if I wasn't hanging out with friends.

Well when they started changing up the shows and finally when Outlaw Star hit the airwaves of Toonami, I watched it and I was amazed by it, I continued watching that show almost everyday that I possibly could. I looked around the internet around that time looking to see more information about it, I found out about the Hot Springs Planet Tenrei episode and that it was never going to be aired on TV for the themes and nudity. So I convinced my mom to buy me the VHS of the Hot Springs Episode and thought I was soo cool to have an episode that I thought was forbidden/banned.

I continued watching and I was SOOO pissed when they took it off of Toonami and then placed it on Adult Swim on Saturdays (They had it on at Midnight my time) but even then I stayed up just to watch that show.

Finally I got tired of watching the censored version and so I got the DVD's as well as the Soundtrack and Art Book from stores at my mall. And no joke, earlier this morning, I retrieved the 3rd and final Outlaw Star Manga Volume that was published! And I still continue to find more and more products of Outlaw Star. My next possible mission: to gain the Action Figures and then to get the Wall Scroll with all of the main characters that Mantis has. THEN, the 2-3 chapters that were published in a magazine and NEVER published and placed in the Manga books!

Sorry........long story....I got a LOT to talk about when it comes to this series!
