RE: Obligatory "How did you come about Outlaw Star?"

You can add me to the "First saw this on Toonami".

I was a just starting high school when they began to air Outlaw Star, and I was usual able to catch it when I came home. It pretty much became a ritual for me to watch it, and as many of you, it become on of my favorite shows. Much later when I went to college, I managed to by the DVDs, and can enjoy when ever I want to.

I'm not sure Toonami is even still around?

Toonami 2001 me too. I used to record it (VHS) both afternoon and late night showing. I think I still have the tapes in my closet I think.

Back in the good ol' days of Toonami is when I first saw Outlaw Star on television...I'm starting to feel a bit of nostalgia here. I still have good memories of the show when it first aired and still I find time to watch it again.

RE: Obligatory "How did you come about Outlaw Star?"

Stumbled upon it on the Toonami Midnight Run in 2000 (there's a shocker...) when I was a wee lad at eight years of age. Had to sneak downstairs while my parents were sleeping to get my nightly dose (because the weekday blocks were obviously not enough for me). From there I watched it almost religiously until it got booted from the lineup. Not to be outdone, I kept watching Toonami wating for it to re-run again until it got booted from the weekday block to Saturday for...frickin...Miguzi (that was on my birthday, too...kinda ironic). After that, I put Outlaw Star on the backburner, but I never truly forgot about it...

...then I stumbled upon the DVD collection during an uneventful stroll through the dealer room at Ohayocon 2010. One of the best $30 I've spent in my life so far.
A boy has the right to dream. There are endless possibilities stretched out before him. What awaits him down the path he will then have to choose; the boy doesn't always know. At some point the boy then becomes an adult, and learns what he was able to become. Joy and sadness will forever accompany this. He is confronted with a choice; when this happens, does he bid his past farewell in his heart? Once a boy becomes an adult, he can no longer go back to being a boy; the boy is now a man. Only one thing can be said: "A boy has the right to dream.". For those endless possibilities are stretched out before him.

We must remember...all men were once boys.

RE: Obligatory "How did you come about Outlaw Star?"

I found out about Outlaw Star through a friend of mine when we were discussing the popular anime Cowboy Bebop. It was just an offhand comment he made, but I decided to look it up on youtube. I had to then import the DVDs, get the OST (first two disks) and promptly display my loyalty to the series with an anime wall-hanging. Suffice to say I love it.

Was surprised to finally see that a region 2 copy was released in the UK about a year or two ago. Better late than never I suppose.
