RE: If there were a sequel, what would suck? What would win? (Potential spoilers)

Yeah I haven't heard a good reason to watch Angel Links. I was fine just watching Outlaw Star and that was that.

To bring the topic back to once it was, I always felt that if a sequel was ever given the green light after all of these years, then I feel that it should be a little more grittier. It should be taken a little more seriously and not overwhelmed with Anime cliches as well as having a plot that has never been portrayed before. When I say that, I mean the foundation of the story itself, not what's on the surface.

For example: I would not want it to have what I call the "Upgrade Saga" where it's like the Dragonball series and just keep training and finding a way to get stronger than another individual to beat them. This refers mainly to the idea of having the Sword of Wind ship over the XGP in the original idea of the sequel.

That's just one I can think of for now but yeah I just see that if the series is able to come back, it needs to come back and hit hard, not be subtle and like any other series. Especially with the time gap from the original, it would need to basically come out and kick you in the ass when it is done.

That makes two of us, Gene. I wouldn't be surprised if any possible sequel would take a darker tone; the last episode's "open-endedness" pretty much leaves endless possibilities. In fact, I welcome the dark and edgy plots in anime; it's the general anime cliche's that can kill the mood. It happened in the Hellsing Ultimate OVA a few times and it was just unnecessary.
A boy has the right to dream. There are endless possibilities stretched out before him. What awaits him down the path he will then have to choose; the boy doesn't always know. At some point the boy then becomes an adult, and learns what he was able to become. Joy and sadness will forever accompany this. He is confronted with a choice; when this happens, does he bid his past farewell in his heart? Once a boy becomes an adult, he can no longer go back to being a boy; the boy is now a man. Only one thing can be said: "A boy has the right to dream.". For those endless possibilities are stretched out before him.

We must remember...all men were once boys.

I think that the anime ended on a good note and should stay that way without a new season. I mean what more would Gene need to do? He got his wish of being in space. He got Melfina. He owes a bunch of money to payback for using machinery from someone else, but I don't think that, that alone, is enough to start a new series. Don't get me wrong I did love the series, but what more could Gene and the gang do? I hope those questions are answered should this happen.
