Thread: Where to find/buy/dl the manga?

Personally, I'm waiting on all the translations to be released before I get started on reading it.

This all looks very cool though; I must say that.

Oh, I can't read Japanese, so it was mostly for a "teehee, let's look at pictures! :D" kind of thing. I do think it'd be great if someone could host the raws somewhere else though. -hint hint-

Does anybody have the RAWs of the four chapters? And are you certain these extra four chapters weren't available in Italian or German?

Hmm... I've never translated anything before but I'd be willing to have a bash at it... Though be warned I'll mostly be using things like google translate and rikaikun to do so...

Rest assured, there's PLENTY of interest in this. I want to be able to read this and a translation of Future Retro Hero Story so badly it's driving me crazy.

Google translate often gives you very unintelligible translations that make no sense, especially when placed back in the context they were taken out of. You have been forwarned :S

If you cross-reference Google Translations with translations from another site (this is a decent one) you'll often get better results. But you will often find sentences that indeed seem to make no sense. In such a circumstance, the best thing you can do is move ahead with the translation and return to those unintelligible parts later.

Sometimes it's necessary to change the context of translations a little. Sure, you can try to be as accurate as possible, but if you do that the result might be incredibly boring. Literal meanings and grammar translate okay. Cultural references do not. The main hurdle is finding a good way to convert scanned Japanese text to unicode characters. I've found a way to do this, but since there are so many kanji characters it's not very accurate, and thus the accuracy of the translation is reduced even further.

It doesn't work with Manga. There is so much graphic 'white noise' that the converter thinks there's text in random places, and quite often doesn't recognize whole blocks of text inside bubbles. Even the ones it does recognize often have completely wrong conversions. Like missing hiragana, incorrect hiragana/kanji/katakana, or partial recognitions of kanji (like recognizing a horizontal line but not the rest of the character.)

If you've found a tool that does that more reliably than adobe, I'd like to know about it.

Oh, don't worry, as I've said, I'm not going to rely on Google Translate alone.
I found a tool to search for kanji characters individually when I don't recognise them.
I'll be cross referencing things and using a number of methods as well as getting others I know to help me check for obvious errors too. It'll just be a rather long process that you're not likely to see much progress very soon...

What kind of tool are you using? I found a recognition application that involved drawing Japanese characters, but often it identified different ones. Perhaps I wasn't drawing them well enough.
