It can take a bit of trial and error to get right but I've found every character I've looked for so far

Were you using the right stroke order?Originally Posted by Mantis
If you want to take it panel-by-panel, using a separate image for each line of text, there's this: http://appsv.ocrgrid.org/nhocr/
It's very finicky, though, and you'll likely have to double and triple check the result for accuracy using an IME pad or whathaveyou. Every image will need clean up until it's pretty much clean black text on a white background and even then it's prone to mistakes. ('Cause translating ? as 5 and ? as — can be painful, not to mention the character nuances.)
Of course, if you're willing to do that much work for it, you may as well just start learning all the Kanji characters. That's what I'm doing.
I probably wasn't, since I'm a bit weird with stroke orders in general. I've used this page before. It's pretty good, but the application I found does a nice job, called ABBYY FineReader 10. I recommend checking it out. Hah, learn all the Kanji characters? That would take the better part of ten years if I learned them leisurely. Heck, even most Japanese don't know all of the characters.
