RE: LEAST favorite moments in outlaw star (spoiler warning)

Hilda's passing was a crushing blow.
But it allowed Gene to become his own outlaw.
Without it, Hilda would have been the captain and Gene the first mate.
Not to doubt that it would still be riviting taking that route.
However this is a hero's journey, it requires an arc for someone like Gene to experience.
Hilda was pretty much fully matured by the time the series started.
All that mess said, still would have liked to see her live.

I definitely agree, I think she would've definitely taken the leading role had she lived. BUT, I still think it would've been cool to see her in a supporting role much like Suzuka.

    No doubt.
And her whole pirate grudge motif could have been fertile ground for epicness.

I am definitely not a fan of the cactus episode and skip it pretty much every time I watch the series again.

RE: LEAST favorite moments in outlaw star (spoiler warning)

For its ep. 14 "Final Countdown" I just don't care for it like the rest. I know it is supposed to be suspenseful and all. But it was a little too slow for me.

I'll throw my two cents about Hilda. Hilda could and maybe should have had her own show if she didn't die off early. But I view Hilda like Obi-wan Kenobi, she found the would be hero and taught him the ways of the outlaw. However, for the hero to become a real hero in his/her own right the teacher needs to be removed (usually by dying off). Gene didn't need Hilda holding his hand throughout the show and asking her what's it like to be a real outlaw. In the end he had to learn the hard way with the info Hilda parted with him and forced him to become a outlaw himself.

Well a prequel centered on the early lives of all the characters including Hilda would have been great ;p Specially since they already had a young Hilda

Ah, from the pilot video. Is she shown to have an eye patch though? I think it may have just been a different design.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

Her eye is covered by her hair so you can't tell :/ Yeah it's a different design but she definitely looks younger, which I think would make for a great basis for a young Hilda in preview (sorry I didn't mean to say that that was the actual design for a prequel if that's how it looked).
