    RE: Dream thread

I think it would be great to wake in a chemical plant a few counties over.
Fun times trying to piece that little circumstance back together.

    RE: Dream thread

Well, this is my third time recalling this dream, and it is a pretty odd one:

The dream started out with me watching a cartoon movie because I heard some people saying that it was really good and one of their favorite childhood movies. It looked like it was from the late 80's or early 90's and involved talking, sapient animals - of the variety you'd see in Secret of NIMH or Rescue Rangers - trying to save the forest they were living in from human land developers. They had magic, ancient books, and everything else you'd expect talking woodland critters in this sort of movie to have.

Then I was in the movie, and next thing I knew I found myself warning the land developers about what was happening (yeah, that's the pragmatist in me - sorry critters, we need that wood to build our homes). When I told them about this, they told their higher-ups, and this somehow got all the way to the federal government, because next thing I knew I was being told I was in command of an operation to defeat the animals and was told I could use as many military weapons and personnel as I saw fit.

Next thing I knew, it was sunset and I had deployed tank columns, artillery, MLRS batteries, fighters, and bombers to take over a forest a few square kilometers in size that was being guarded by small animals. While I was still organizing my forces, though, I found out that the animals were leaving the woods and coming to attack me. Before I had even fully registered this, the tanks began rolling forward and the fighters and bombers were streaking across the sky. It was at this point that I thought "Oh man, this is a kid's movie. I'll bet there's some stupid contrivance that causes the animals to beat me without any losses."

Then the first air-to-air missiles hit the bluejays and robins with realistic results, proving me wrong. The ensuing curbstomp continued with no human losses until a ground crew of a dozen or so people that I was with (for some reason) got hit by a misfired missile from one of the aircraft, causing all of them to die very messily but leaving me, five feet away from them, untouched. I started freaking out about this, feeling as if I had somehow personally caused their deaths, and that's when I woke up.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I was freaking out about the friendly fire casualties, not the dead animals.

    RE: Dream thread

I've had some really weird dreams...

I was in the land of Zelda, and my pet seal had gone missing. So I have to go on a mission to find it. After some rather boring stuff I eventually turn up at Kakoriko Village. My seal is on the roof of the Inn, so I climb up there. It's on the edge of the roof, looking like its about to jump. So, to show it that it would be bad to jump of the edge, I jump of it and land on my back. Then my seal jumps off the roof after me and lands on my stomach.

    I then woke up, winded.

I've also sat straight up in the night and yelled "SHUT UP AND LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" then layed down again. I was like O_O wha? When I was told I did that.

I was helping out some dude with his convenient store, runnin' down the thieves.
The situation devolved into a fem-demon possessing folk and causing general disarray.
Eventually, the situation devolved into an apocalyptic contest where the demon fought another planetary entity.
A green moon woman saved the day.
She wasn't a moon woman in the sense that we are earth people.
    She WAS THE MOON!!!

If I end up sleeping on the floor after a drink, apparently I'll have full-blown (nonsensical) conversations in my sleep and resort to making snorting noises for several seconds before waking up if someone turns a light on.

Anyway, this was something that happened a while back, sometime in 2005/2006 IIRC. It's not quite a dream as such, but after near-enough a marathon week of playing games, eating junk-food, drinking and with no sleep to interrupt (quite literally; any rest I got can't really be classed as sleep), I finally gave out during a session of Resident Evil 0 (GCN).

Except I didn't just crash out and hit the floor drooling like an idiot. I 'went to sleep' with my eyes open, still staring at the screen and gripping the controller. I don't remember this, because as far as I was concerned I was still wide awake and playing the game normally, albeit with all sorts of random content suddenly making itself known.

Anyway, my mate notices that I'm just making the character on-screen walk around in small circles, and shouts at me from across the room. I 'wake up' and randomly shout "he left his keys in the fridge is he riching it yet?"

Don't try and make sense of that. You'll waste your life. 'Riching' isn't even a word!

(Needless to say, that was that. I told him to go home and went to sleep for a grand total of...

    ...7 hours. FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU-)
"It turned out that the ghost was just Mr. Finley, who ran the amusement park. The spooky part is that, as soon as the ghost appeared, the teenagers' dog began to speak! And it spoke in a tortured parody of human speech: 'relp me, Raggy,' it would say. 'I am an abomination and rould re rilled. Rill re, Raggy.'"

In the past, I've gotten to the stage of not getting enough sleep that I'm running on automatic. During this, I was also at school... Though I cannot tell you what happened from arriving at lesson til leaving them. Oddly enough my grades dropped around that time.

I've had a dream where I had to make loads and loads of mince for spagetti bolegnese. In the dream, I was lying in bed and if i shook the duvet it would make it.

    RE: Dream thread

I had a weird dream last night but I can't remember it very well now. It was stuck in my mind in the morning, though, but alas, I just ignored it through tiredness. It was weird because I was in my room (it's a dorm) and there's a small field outside. So in my dream I looked outside of my window and I saw some kind of jet (possibly inspired by the fact that I often see military helicopters fly by here) taking off on the field, and then what I recall as a jeep that drove from out of nowhere and straight into jet as it was about to lift.

I shielded my eyes as the two vehicles exploded and the window in front of me shattered; I could feel the small shards digging into my skin. The force of the explosion knocked me onto the floor, but when I got up and looked outside again, there was a huge formation of soldiers about two to three hundred metres away, and they opened fire on my university. Now here's the weird part. The first time I was ripped to shreds by the bullets, but then it's almost as if I rewound my dream and started again, like checkpoints in a video game.

So, I was back on the floor again having been knocked down by the explosion. I knew what was coming, so I quickly dashed to my door trying to crouch down as a hail of bullets from dozens of soldiers penetrated the walls around me, merely a hair's-breadth above my head. I sprinted out of the building to discover that our armed forces had engaged in a full-scale war. Everything was aflame. A bomber craft was passing overhead, and started carpet bombing the halls of residence. Fortunately I had got far away enough to avoid the blast, but its payload destroyed everything.

And that's all I can remember. Heh, makes it sound like I've been playing too much CoD, but I don't even like the series that much. I had lots of other weird dreams too, but I can only recall small fragments of them. I know I had one in which an ex-girlfriend of mine wasn't bitchy anymore and had changed as a person entirely. Dreams are so weird and random.

    RE: Dream thread

So, do any of you have "lucid dreams"? That is, dreams in which you are constantly aware of your surroundings and you can control your own actions. I think I have them fairly often, but I seldom remember my dreams in general. I had a very interesting one last night, but unfortunately I can hardly remember the fine details. Which is a good reason why I should keep some kind of dream journal.

What I can remember is something terrible happening in this country and having to be transported to the United States. It was some kind of boot camp. I've never been athletic, but it felt amazing being able to run effortlessly and get through the obstacle courses with ease. We were given lectures constantly. Soon enough, for whatever reason I can't remember, I wanted to escape. I was chased but I managed to lose the soldiers. I remember asking myself if I'm dreaming.

I was actually wondering whether it was a lucid dream. I put it to the test by trying to fly. It worked, and it was incredible. I felt an impulse to wake up. I woke up, lying in my bed and trying to make sense of this crazy dream, and ten seconds later my alarm went off. It's not often I remember my dreams, but heck, I'd sure like more like that one even if the storyline is sort of gloomy.

    RE: Dream thread

At one point, when I lived with my folks and my dad was going in and out of hospital, I had nightmares every night for a year. Those nightmares rarely had anything other than friends family and strangers alike getting murdered... -__-' I was almost an insomniac...

Sorry if I've put a downer on anyone's day.
