Given the choice I'd use toilet paper since it's becoming the new world's currency:

...But a cloth would not be completely terrible. People in India use their hands. Ask your mother to pick one.
You actually gave me a thread idea, I hope people don't mind it but everywhere I go I am seeing virus memes and some of them are quite honestly hilarious. I will make a thread for them. Lighten the mood a bit for everyone. I am not too stressed but I have moments of it like when my husband came home from the store the other day and was unable to find my water in 3 different shops. I still have 5 or 6 jugs cause I always stock up but I like to have extra since I use it for soup and rice too.

I concur. I think a lot of us could do with some mood lightening with the kind of news we're getting on a daily basis!
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I forgot to come back and update my situation. Last I posted I was still expected to report to work, but I've been working from home since Tuesday. Doesn't bother me one bit, I get to go to bed later, sleep in, and play games when no clients are calling me. It's sweet.

I've been exercising, writing in my diary, and reading for pleasure to stave off boredom. And looking at the outdoors and drinking tea, of course. :-)Attachment 2814

Disclaimer: I'm not happy that people are getting sick and/or dying.

It may be a bit unpopular to say, but I'm rather enjoying this unique situation. I've always preferred staying home to going out, and that counts double for work. Staying home with my family & dog, keeping my sleep clothes on all day, no traffic when I do go out, staying up late...it's rather cozy. I know some people must be going stir-crazy but not everyone needs to go out and do things all the time. Hopefully this teaches them a lesson about slowing the fuck down.

All in all, if I could continue to work from home indefinitely where I can pet my dog and play video games during the workday, I'd do it. I chose to be cyber-schooled throughout all of high school so I'm very accustomed to this. I hate waking up early, putting on uncomfortable clothes, feigning interest in sports at the water cooler...I just wanna wear my anime shirts and work under a blanket. I'm far more productive this way anyhow.

This is also one of those unique moments in history that I'm happy I get to see, even if it's a negative thing overall. Surprisingly, I can be good at finding the silver-lining in things when other people are the ones being negative. It's an exciting and very rare occurrence to behold. We'll probably talk about this weird couple of months for years to come. I'm going to try to enjoy the changes in my life as much as I can before things go back to normal. I still have 38 or so years of 8am - 4:30pm office work to grind away at until I retire. A break in the monotony is welcomed, even if the cause is something bad.

I can absolutely see the good sides to the situation for many people. While I believe a lot more sorrow than joy has come from this, I don't believe that people shouldn't be able to enjoy their new ways of living because there are people suffering out there. There's nothing wrong with some enjoyment. That is if the people viewing this in a positive light are acting responsibly. (In short, listening to your government's new restrictions and not being an asshole. Also not encouraging people to break rules which can be indirect.) More power to everyone who tries to look on the bright side while not losing sight of the fact that at the end of the day this is some serious shit. There's no point in making ourselves miserable when that doesn't change anything but our own wellbeing.

I like to keep myself informed as often as I can and also want this over just like many other people. I stay apprised by reading news feeds regularly but I don't let that upset me. I don't think this virus will go away in a couple of months and get the feeling this has only just started. I hope I'm wrong about that, but in the meantime let's try to have fun sometimes.

(Totally not trying to promote a get-together.)

I agree with this being a unique situation that perhaps humanity won't see again. I find it quite surreal and bizarre. It came out of nowhere and the world has never seen anything like it. Sure, we've survived pandemics before but the way that our world leaders are communicating and people are collectively supporting each other online is nothing short of astonishing. However long this lasts, everyone will remember this for better or for worse. For decades we'll remember this similarly to other disasters. (e.g. "Where were you during 9/11?" Perhaps it'll be: "What were you doing during COVID-19?" I wouldn't know how to answer that aside from "scratching my arse.")
