    OOF.

Despite that, at work this morning I learned that Google Analytics has a current version and a legacy version called "Analytics for Web". We were doing some maintenance and research regarding our website and found that tons of analytics that we should have after implementing the code 9+ years ago are unavailable to us since we are using the old code snippet. Bummer.

Loads of companies just can't be arsed updating their software. This was many years ago, but I remember doing a brief job at an airport where they all worked on these really old IBM machines, y'know, the ones with really low-res green text screens. It's insane how many companies are still using Windows XP. I have a friend who works for a company that still uses Visual Basic for its kiosk software. In a strange way I miss using Visual Basic at college.

Today I learned that a plan to create a new ocean by nuking the shit out of the Sahara desert was once considered.

Today I learned the value in just walking away when it comes to talking to people who are never wrong about anything and know it all. There is no point in having a discussion for growth and consideration there as no matter what anyone else says, their opinions on everything are hard facts. lol

They still use those at lots of grocery stores and department stores in the US. I used one as a cashier just 6 years ago.

I learned something new the other day. I can't bake. LOL! I remember being able to when I was younger but I tried making cookies 3 times and they came out terrible every time. Maybe it is because I am using an electric oven now? How frustrating.

So I decided last fall, I would house a few woolly bears. I just learned today that once they cocoon themselves and become moths, they only live 1 to 2 weeks and die. The reason being is that they don't have mouths so they starve to death. Such a sad life man.

What kind of oven did you use in the past?

Today I learned that the first female monarch was crowned in the 16th century, when I thought it was at least the 17th. I learned various other uninteresting facts from Who Wants to be a Millionaire which I'll have probably forgotten by tomorrow.

Why aren't there quizzes that feature (mostly nerdy) topics I'm more knowledge about? On most quiz shows it's probably one question for every one hundred that's about technology (a very relevant category nowadays) and when there is one it's usually piss-easy.

Today I also learned that Sonic Spinball does indeed have more than one level. I first played this game when I was five years old and as a kid I always found it hard as nails. Definitely the hardest Sonic game I've played. This was in part due to the game (and the nature of pinball in general) being 20% skill and 80% luck, but I just couldn't beat it.

Twenty-five years later, today I finally have. (That blasted first level that always tormented me anyhow.) I've only played it a few times as an adult but even now I think it's a very difficult game, especially being a game primarily aimed at kids. Surprisingly the boss was rather easy, but of course, I lost my lives on level two.

I could have cheated and watched a Let's Play, but I just didn't want to. Since I was five years old I told myself I'd beat it one day. Now I know what the second level looks like, and the music is... decent.

Yeah it is rather depressing. Now I feel awful. lol

I grew up using the standard gas stoves/ovens so I am having some issues with my electric one now. I had a whole system down with those. I even screwed up hardboiling eggs! I am going to try doing them on my rice cooker next time.
