Lemons alkalize the system so since snot and mucus is high in acid, it helps break it down. That is why it is recommended for such things. Honey (raw) does the same.
And I don't know how many people actually know this but a lot of people get sick through their ears and nostrils. If you are going to be in a crowed area with people coughing and what not, take a bit of coconut oil and put it just inside your nostrils and just inside your ears. It will prevent pathogens from getting into the body. Works quite well. I actually do this regularly and I haven't been sick in 3 years.
When I got sick I use to use it as an excuse to stay home and get out of school/work and watch shows and play video games but these days I do my best to just sleep it off and get better. Don't have that luxury anymore as it comes out of my personal time-off bucket for work which cuts into my vacations as we don't get sick hours.
While I am not sick, I am feeling it. Might have another kidney stone. Not sure yet. I just been resting. I had to lay in bed most of yesterday. Trying to get some stuff done now and going to lay back down with a heating pad. Really not sure what to do with myself so I just sleep if I can. Drinking some tea and eating soup when I can.
Nice to see that this thread is still seeing some activity (although people only visit it when they're sick, haha). Luckily I haven't been seriously sick since I posted this, although I stayed home a few days from fatigue over the past year. I still have those comic books from the first post here, although I tend to not read them when I get sick these days. I think I'll get back into the tradition next time.
I've been catching a number of colds over the last few months. They're only light. A little congestion never killed anybody. Well, unless it's the early onset of coronavirus, ho ho!![]()
That shouldn't be funny but I laughed... The internet has made me too hardcore for my own good. LOL
Good news with that virus is, 98% of people who catch it live and it seems to only actually kill people who are 60+ with other underlying health conditions or those who have a VERY weak immune system.
I've never been one to get sick often. I'm surprised to hear Mantis say he was sick several times in the span of a few months. I know some people are like that though. A friend of mine catches a strong cold or stomach bug every 2 months or so that has him knocked out for a week. I know know what kind of needles he must be eating out of the dumpster but I couldn't get sick that often if I was trying to. I tend to get sick on the first or last week of Summer, if I catch anything. I get a cold probably once per year and it only ever lasts 2 days really before I'm back at work. In some ways it's a blessing but on the other hand I stack up sick days and can't use them.
I seem to only catch a cold/flu every few years. I had a cold last year and before that, I had swine flu when that was going around back in 2012 I think. I am glad I don't get sick that often because I tend to have to deal with frequent stomach issues from anxiety and hormone issues. If I had to be sick on top of that every year, I'd be miserable. The only person I know that gets sick more than once a year is my father. He seems to get sick 2 to 4 times a year but he is a workaholic who drinks daily so his immune system is likely compromised half the time.
