Those Japanese bastards completely copied this innocent student film project.

BTW, I hope you'll have fun on the 20th. I've talked to other fans and know the game is highly anticipated.

Nope. Because the list of 100 I was thinking of was actually Hunger Games ripping off Battle Royale.

I had it confused with this thread, which while it isn't 100 points it's quite a few and my initial Google search returned well over 100 unique comparisons all from the first page of results.

some fans also mentioned that the design docs for the Firefly starship look a heck of a lot like OLS concept art. I couldn't find that (damn broken photobucket links will plague the internet forever) but the first page of Google image results had 2 images that caught my eye...

Not a complete ripoff, but you can see the similarities in design as well as story.

Anyhow, I haven't played Animal Crossing in a long time since it brings out the worst in me. I don't care about collecting/hoarding the cutesy items. In fact, when I bought New Leafy some years ago I tired of it after playing 3 times and gave it to my sister. She still teases me (as recently as this past weekend) about the way I play Animal Crossing.

I just autistically collect money (Bells). My house had a bed and a nightstand, that's all. Cobwebs and bugs were all around, I didn't clear weeds from the ground, I just farmed fishing and fruit for money that I didn't use.

This is getting so off-topic I won't comment any further but it is relevant to the Castlevania discussion:

Netflix's Castlevania Has Alucard Engage In Gay Anal Sex - One Angry Gamer

POWERFUL AND BRAVE. The writer for the show (in Season 3, at least) hasn't even played any of the games. It looks like Netflix put their all into Season 1 and tricked people into thinking it wasn't going to be like this, but Netflix is Netflix and just couldn't help themselves.

Well, since I last posted we've all gone under lockdown. Starwind and I are "essential employees", but I think we're both working from home which gives me little excuse these days to miss get-togethers. Saturdays are still tough since that's when my friends/family visit (they were over until 5am this past Sunday) but other days are possible now since it's not like I need to get up early and look sharp in the office.

What do your schedules look like?

Are you really mixing with friends and family every weekend? I guess it must only be a semi-lockdown there. Do that here and Boris will kick your ass.

Ohhhh yeah, I remember seeing you'd posted that Castlevania link a couple of weeks back but didn't get round to replying. Gay sex in fiction doesn't bother me that much if it isn't shoehorned to push an agenda. I think that, historically speaking it is not necessarily incorrect as sodomy has been around for thousands of years. Long ago it was accepted and continued to happen in the medieval period but was far more often punished. So I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility in fiction that's very loosely based on history. I guess that male/male/female threesomes may have happened as well!

On a related note, there's a good TV show called Outlander that's about a time traveller. At one point she travels to the Middle Ages. One of the male characters is anally raped. It's a nasty thing and you do feel sorry for the character. This kind of shit sometimes happened. It sounds a bit similar to what the article described from Castlevania. Historically accurate (for a cartoon that's ridiculously fantastical anyway) and if they're not shoehorning a political agenda I won't take issue. Whether or not it's actually a decent show is something I'd need to find out for myself. It sounds like the first two seasons might be accurate to Castlevania lore. Netflix is Netflix so my expectations are always low. (This makes shows better when they're actually good I guess, like Ajin.)

    Anyway...

I recall that Starwind55 is currently home but his employers are figuring out a way to telecommute. I could be wrong! Like most Britons, scheduling isn't on the agenda for the foreseeable future. I won't be going out at the weekends until the crisis passes. So yes, I am completely stuck at home and outside of sleeping hours I'll be completely free.

I'd rather return to how we had our get-togethers during early hours in the UK, thus late at night in the US.

They are about to set things up for me working at home this Friday. The nice thing is next week, I'm on vacation. I was supposed to go to an anime convention but of course, our ol' buddy corona ruin those plans so, aside from cleaning my apartment up and playing Doom Eternal/watching other shit, I got nothing going on so I'm down anytime during the week. Specifically, I'll have March 30th-April 6th off so whatever you guys want to do, I'll be around.

Also, was Alucard gay in the original games? I haven't played Symphony of The Night in a long ass time so I'm not sure if that game ever went into his sexuality or not. I guess I'm not surprised since the producer of the show seems to specialize in making darker, edgier versions of classic properties. To be fair, he did bring us some really cool stuff, like this Punisher short movie that brought back Thomas Jane (Who I'm still convinced is the best on-screen Punisher) but then he has some...questionable ideas like a gritty power rangers short movie.

Don't get me wrong, the craft that went into making this is top notch but did we really need a gritty take on Power Rangers?

And for some reason, he wants to make a R rated Mega Man movie/series

DREDD Producer Adi Shankar Wants to Make a Hard R MEGA MAN Film — GeekTyrant

I can understand going the dark, edgy route with Castlevania because the gothic horror tone of the games lends itself to that type of direction but...fucking Mega Man? Why? What benefit would a light-hearted character like Mega Man get from a darker, R rated take? It's like those fan-fictions that try to implement swearing, sex and drama into shows aimed at kids. Supposedly, he's working on a Devil May Cry series which I don't think he's right for. I have a feeling that we're gonna get something like the DmC reboot levels of edgy cring.
