Hey guys, what's the news on this? i mostly play single-player RPGs but I've got steam and I'd like to play a game or two with y'all. I've got FFXIV if any of you are on that, I'm on the Gilgamesh server. I also play World of Tanks off-and-on. My sister plays 100% Orange Juice but I have no clue what it is. What's the status on this monthly gaming stuff?

Many weekends I play games with Starwind, but as far a larger get-together goes we did it a few times but I don't think everyone was able to commit to it, so ultimately it didn't last. For the time it did though, we had some awesome times playing a few games and watching various anime together.

Being a big (as far as the Squaresoft games go) Final Fantasy fan, oddly I've never actually played XI or XIV. One of the top posters here (inactive for several years, but once in a blue moon we talk via Steam) highly recommended World of Tanks to me, but I just never got round to it. Your sister has some good gaming taste. It probably takes at least a couple of hours to "get into" 100% Orange Juice, but once you're used to the gameplay it's heaps of fun.

I'd like to give this monthly arrangement another shot, but we'd need to make sure we properly plan ahead this time. Maybe we can plan something for the weekend though.

I'm down for it too. I guess it's just a matter of making sure that folks would be locked into it. If we can arrange for a day that everyone can commit to than we could give it another shot. Maybe we can game for awhile and then watch a movie/anime/whatever we feel like? With so many games out there, maybe we can alternate on who decides what game we play for the particular week (Though voting on it could suffice too.)?

Things can come up, but I think that's the best way to go about it, Starwind. The biggest issue with gaming I think is ensuring there's a game we all have, which becomes less possible the more participants we have. I can think of a couple of ways to address that. The first is to simply keep playing the same game(s), or play Free to Play games which I'm generally not a fan of and I wouldn't enjoy playing Team Fortress 2 often either, but I also don't want to call all the shots here.

Another way is to make it a rule to put aside just a couple of dollars every weekend and to vote on a cheap indie game we can all play, also keeping in mind that indie games that have a retail price several times higher can indeed often be had at key sites like G2A or Kinguin for about $2-3 or less. Not all cheap games are bad either. Hell, Stick Fight was great fun for one gaming night. Bundles are also a good idea since they can provide multiplayer games for multiple gaming nights at cheap prices, so long as the games don't suck...

We could really do with more than three players (four is a good number) but I'm not sure how to go about that on OSN.

I'd be down for just some anime or something to break the ice. Do you guys talk over Skype or Discord or just IM? Does somebody screenshare if it's anime or you all play it on VLC at the same time-ish?

For games, i could do a few bucks here or there. I doubt i can commit to the same time every month but if it's just the three of us we could work out a time that works on the fly just as a group of three as opposed to a larger Nexus thing until/unless more people jump in.
Divekick is supposedly pretty fun,but i suck at fighting games and idk how much it costs these days.

I think borderlands would be a good choice. It often pops up on the humble bundles or steam sales and you can grab it for a good price. Other than that any sandbox game, or maybe something story driven could be fun. Monster Hunter comes out for PC this Thursday and I plan on picking up a copy as well. If people want to add me on anything linking my accounts.

I forgot stardew valley is getting multiplayer so that could be a good candidate as well.

I have Borderlands too so I'm all for playing that but if there is another game you want to play, I'm open to any suggestions. Mantis and I usually watch anime/movies and/or play games on the weekends, typically on either Saturday or Sunday so if you want to join us then you're certainly more than welcome to. It's just down to whether or not Mantis will be free or if we can get a few other folks to join us.

Oops, I missed this. I know you're busy now having returned to work, but the door will always be open if you're free. As for the video methods, I have my own server on a very fast network and streaming worldwide hasn't been a problem in the past. My server runs Plex and we use a service called PlexTogether to watch my videos synchronously. It's all very easy to set up. While watching, we've always talked in PlexTogether's built-in chat.

I think we'll go for Borderlands this weekend then! I have it too. I'm going to familiarise myself with the gameplay a bit, but it looks fun for co-op.

I'll be free on Saturday! If you're only able to do Sunday I'll try to find a way to reschedule so I can play then, but if you'll be free on Saturday that's best for me. Yeah, if we can fit in a film and some Borderlands, that would be awesome. Films are often the best ice-breakers for this since we can just chill. Followed by some gaming it makes for a pretty fun evening.

Saturday or Sunday works for me. Just give me a time and I'll be sure to be on. Just keep in mind you all are 6 hours ahead of me I believe (am CST).
