I view being content as different as being happy. Content is a better feeling really, cause it's harder to be taken away... But harder to get too. I find it feels better to feel like nothing bad is gonna happen...
Maybe cause it's uber rare to feeling, being that I'm either happy or annoyed/upset/grumpy. usually due to mother.
Also, something that is currently making me UNHAPPY is that, for some reason, this site likes to skip me to other pages. AND THUS I LOSE EVERYTHING I'VE WRITTEN! *grumpy rawr*
You're asking for historical accuracy in a series where men weilding three swords in each hand, pirates surfing across land on giant anchors, horses with motocycle parts attached and feudal-era Power Rangers are the norm?
Happiness for me is seeing everyone else happy. I know that sounds lame/cheesy but its true. I'm super-sensitive to others and their feelings. So if someone who is dear to me is sad, so am I. Mostly because I suck at trying to cheer them up, but I do try pitifully! hehe
And I guess what would make me even happier is if I could find a better job, and someday have a family of my own would be nice.![]()
I just want to use this quote as my post and flee kthx! Only thing I would change is to remove the word "better" since I do not have a job as of yet.Originally Posted by Bloodylilcorpse
No, really. When others I care about are happy, it also affects me, mostly in a good/better way. Like the clouds making room for the Sun to shine, and everything outside brightens up, making you feel more alive all of a sudden.

Hmm, Happiness is different person to person. But if I have to say what makes me happy? I guess it's these things:
- Peace & Quit
- Music
- Sleep
- Movies that bring me back to being a kid
- Warm Weather
- Dogs
At least, that's what I think makes me happy at the moment.
"We All Make Choices. But In The End, Our Choices Make Us."
-Andrew Ryan
I think happiness sort of has a broad definition, and I tend to separate it into two types- acute and obtuse. Or, in non-mathematic based terms, short-term and long-term. However, I don't know what would constitute long-term happiness for me. However, I know that for me, short-term happiness comes from peaceful times with family (which are few and far between), writing without writers block, talking with friends and other simple things. Finishing personal goals and 'moving forward' also lead me to a general sense of satisfaction. Perhaps long-term would be created by consistent short-term... I don't really know for that part. But...I also like the idea of a loving spouse and good health. Those could be a great way to make life happier.
"I don't know what words I can say
The wind has a way to talk to me
Flowers sleep, a silent lullaby
I pray for reply
I'm ready"
-Melfina's Song
I would say hope would constitute long-term happiness. Sounds corny, I know, but we're creatures of foresight, one of the few animals that can look to the future, so we need to think "it's all gonna get better" or we don't see the point of the future...
Sounds odd...
The only way I can think off really explaining is saying this;
Those without hope for the future are depressed and suicidal. What's the point of living if there's nothing to live for?
Those with hope move forwards; things will get better.

That's sadly pretty much the truth. Simple analogy: if your building isn't the tallest in the city and you're not willing to build it higher, how can you possibly be the best? By knocking down the other buildings. So what about those on the receiving end? Spend a lot of time studying¨—people will often discourage you and try to divert your attention. Go on a diet and work out—people will scoff and question your motives, perhaps even trying to tempt you with takeaways, etc.
Of course, this doesn't apply to everyone. A lot of people aren't like that. However, I can more or less guarantee; if you're trying to change your lifestyle for the better, those who aren't will try to take you down and out. And it can be quite crippling if you're not prepared. That's just common psychology though. There's nothing particularly terrible about people with such discouraging attitudes... it's only human.
