Pffft, it's the nose isn't it? xD

You must be brighter than me if you saw it coming, I never know what to expect until Kaiji reveals his plan and then I'm like 'oh!'

And please do! I need a reason to check out some new anime, I'd love to hear what you have to say. ^^

Hell, half the people on the boat have long noses.
Usopp, we found your real home! lol
But man, thank you SO much for recommending this. I love it so far. I always love trying to figure out twists and strategies in anime/movies/TV shows/whatever, and this is fantastic for doing that. The last anything that I enjoyed this much for that reason was No Game No Life.

The more I watch Kaiji, the more I realize he's way too trusting for his own good. Even after being betrayed and tricked and having opponents cheat SO many times, he stll trusts people...poor guy.

I'm into the second season, and I'm still enjoying it. I've been busy with work, and other anime, so I haven't finished it yet, but I still love it.

Glad to hear you're still enjoying it, Hippie! I have to admit, I skipped some of the later episodes of the first season because the E-Card made me extremely uncomfortable. I know Kaiji
    lost his hearing
, and that's all I need to know. It ended on a really depressing note though, didn't it?

I think on the whole I actually enjoyed the second season more; you get to see Kaiji kick a lot more ass this time around, which feels awesome. Let me know what you think after you finish episode 8!

I was a bit frustrated at the end of season one. Revenge got the better of Kaiji.
And as much as I liked his strategy, I knew the Chairman would figure it out. Which makes the loss even worse, since he had such a good plan.

But I love season 2 so far. Especially episode 8.
i LOVE how he tricked him. The strategy was so good, and it worked on paranoia, too, which just makes the win that much better. Though, again, he was WAY too trusting of the foreman. Seeing him lose everything was lovely, though.

And the box WAS awesome, even if it didn't have a cat in it that was alive and dead at the same time.

I know, it was painful to see the Chairman beat him at his own game. I knew it was gonna happen, though... Kaiji is every bit as unlucky as he is clever.

I know! The foreman was such a scumbag, it felt amazing seeing him get his comeuppance, one dice role at a time. It's only a matter of time until the Chairman meets the same fate!

I'm still hopeful we'll get a third season one day. I'm still trying to get through Akagi, but as much as I like the character it just isn't nearly as engaging. Then again, I've heard the later parts of the Kaiji manga are all about mahjong, so I don't know how much I'd enjoy that.

I loved the first season of Kaiji. For some odd reason, I just started the second series and then one day fell off the wagon and have yet to finish it...I intend to rectify that some day soon. Glad to see it get some appreciation! There were so many genuinely harrowing moments, I was sweating bullets wondering what would happen next! I also greatly appreciated the way the series spotlights the generation gap in Japan; it really applies almost anywhere, in a way though (old generation, "I have it harder than you kids and I hate you for it!" vs. kids, "shut up old geezers you dunno' what we go through" etc.).

I'm thankful I haven't been in as dire of straits as Kaiji knock on wood (then again, I'd like to think I'm not as big a scuzzball as he is lol), but watching this in my early twenties while I myself started to feel the uncomfortable vice grip of student loan debt, well...to this day it helps make light of a not-so-bright situation (I'm STILL currently in paying those suckers off)...cuz at least I'm not playin' rock paper scissors on a cruise in international waters.
No one's gonna' give you a map. You've gotta' walk your own path.

I just finished Kaiji, and I love it. The last major "battle" was fantastic, and the last few episodes were pretty damn emotional.
I don't much like that he still gets fucked over in the end, but...it's still a wonderful ending to a great anime.
and I love when he mand Endou make the deal for the extra 10 Million. Make it 3 beers a month lol.
Still. Fuck Endou for screwin him over, even at the end.

Thanks for the recommendation, Hari! Fantastic anime!

Awesome to hear you enjoyed it, Hippie! I know what you mean, but as unfair as it is, it wouldn't be Kaiji if he actually made it big. Heck, even if he did he'd probably just blow it all on pachinko anyway. Which season do you think you enjoyed more?

When the first opening started playing at the end... man, that was awesome. It was such a heartwarming ending compared to the last series, wasn't it? It made me happy to see Kaiji having a good time for a change.

    Oh, by the way...
